Team Penske star Austin Cindric recently engaged in a hilarious exchange with infamous X user @nascarcasm. Cindric responded to an X post that shared a meme about the Team Penske driver and a Christmas tree.
Former Xfinity Series champion and Daytona 500 winner Austin finally found some form in the 2024 campaign. The Columbus, Ohio native, a Team Penske product through and through, secured his second-ever Cup win this season, bringing an end to a win drought that lasted nearly two and a half years.
Cindric's impressive campaign saw him secure four top-5 finishes, including the much-awaited win at World Wide Technology Raceway. The 26-year-old finished the season on a career-best 11th position and has since been enjoying a relaxed post-season.
In a recent social media exchange, Austin Cindric found himself at the center of a meme shared by famous X handle @nascarcasm. Posting a picture of a Christmas tree with Cindric's image as the tree-topper, the caption of the holiday-themed meme read:
"Because the top of the tree is where you put the star, MOM."
To which Cindric responded:
"I'm more hung up on the oversized framed photo of a fireplace on the wall of this stock image. Psychotic."
Austin Cindric on making his mark within Team Penske amidst title-winning teammates
Joey Logano clinched his third NASCAR Cup Series championship earlier this year. The 34-year-old driver beat his teammate and last season's champion Ryan Blaney to secure his second Cup title in three seasons.
The win also meant three consecutive titles for Team Penske in the Cup Series, with Ryan Blaney winning his first Championship in 2023. In this environment, Austin Cindric’s progress stands out as he continues to build his identity within the team.
Cindric, still relatively a newcomer with just three seasons under his belt, shared insights into this predicament in a recent interview with NASCAR.com:
"It really is an open book between all three teams. I feel like people say that, but it really is the case. I think the best example that I have with Ryan and Joey, obviously, both of them are very successful, is watching Ryan over the last three or four years really step up into a leadership role on the team. But for me, the two of them achieve success in so very different ways of how they are able to be successful and where they get performance and where they find the ability to win the championship."
The 26-year-old added:
"So for me, I think that’s a great example of you have to do what’s best for you and your team and utilize the best resources in a way that makes the most sense for you and your group."
Austin Cindric has two wins in his NASCAR Cup Series career. The Team Penske driver won the 2022 Daytona 500, which was his first NASCAR race as a full-time Cup driver.
