Recently, a NASCAR reporter shared a post on his X account about former NASCAR Cup Series driver Harry Gant's race-winning iconic #33 Skoal Bandit car being auctioned online. He highlighted the milestones Gant achieved in the car during his prime time in the early 90s during the Winston Cup Series.

The car was the Oldsmobile Cutlass that Gant drove from the late 1980s to 1992 on well-known tracks, including the Watkins Glen International and Sonoma Raceway. The Cutlass is powered by a 358ci V8 paired with a Jerico four-speed manual transmission, giving the raw driving experience compared to the sequential transmission in the NextGen cars.

The Oldsmobile Cutlass has the exact livery Harry Gant drove in his prime and features the iconic #33 number and Skoal initials. The car runs on 15-inch Bassett wheels and Wilwood disc brakes with a fuel filler on each side. Additionally, it comes with a full roll cage, fixed racing seat, Hurst shifter, fire-suppression system, window net, and a quick-release steering wheel.

Harry Gant's Oldsmobile Cutlass is being auctioned on BringTraller.com. The current bid for the car is $27,033, and the auction will end on Sunday, December 15, 2024, at 12:43 am.

The last race Gant won in this car was the Champion Spark Plug 400 at Michigan International Speedway on August 16, 1992.

Revisiting NASCAR veteran Harry Gant's legendary winning streak three decades later

Former NASCAR Cup Series driver Harry Gant achieved his career-high winning streak over three decades ago, winning back-to-back four races in September 1992. This led to the coining of his nickname "Mr. September". Gant achieved this feat at the age of 51, and a year later he became the oldest driver to win a Cup Series race at 52 years and 219 days in his iconic Oldsmobile Cutlass.

Gant began his streak at the Darlington Raceway on September 1, 1991, followed by the Richmond Raceway race on September 7, 1991, and the Dover International Speedway race on September 15, 1991. He ended his streak by winning the Martinsville Speedway race on September 22, 1991.

The former NASCAR Winston Cup Series driver ended the 1991 season in fourth place in the points table. He scored five wins, 15 top-five finishes, and 17 top-ten finishes with a single pole position in 29 starts. He also holds the record for being the second-oldest driver (42 years and 105 days) in the Xfinity Series to win a race after Dick Trickle.

Harry Gant bagged 18 wins and 208 top-ten finishes with 17 pole positions in the Cup Series in 474 starts in his 22-year career. He also competed in the NASCAR Xfinity Series for 11 years and clinched 21 wins, 71 top-ten finishes, and 14 pole positions. He scored four top-ten finishes in his one-year stint in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
