Tim Brown, the winningest driver at Bowman Gray Stadium, was signed by Rick Ware Racing to run the NASCAR Cup Series Busch Clash at the 0.25-mile track next month. Brown recently answered questions during a virtual press conference, including how he thinks racing at Bowman Gray Stadium will play out.

During the interview via CupScene.com, racing insider and NASCAR on FOX reporter Bob Pockrass raised the question to Brown on how he believes the Cup Series exhibition race will play out on the North Carolina track. Brown has a few concerns, such as how cold weather would affect the race, but is optimistic overall on the quality of race he expects.

However, Brown added that it won't change the fact that racing inside a stadium is difficult and compared it to when the Cup Series previously raced inside the LA Coliseum, also a 0.25-mile track, for the Busch Clash.

"I'm hoping it's going to be a really good race," Tim Brown said. "The fear that I have is that if it's really, really cold, like 30 degrees and the track is cold and the tires are cold, they'll be slipping and sliding quite a bit. Racing at the stadium is hard. I think it's going to be more difficult than even racing at the Coliseum in LA, just because of the asphalt difference and the weather, the temperature difference. It's going to be the same for everybody, so I think the bottom will definitely be dominant. Just got to have your car turning really good in the center and have plenty of forward drive and you'll be fine." (6:30 onwards)

The Cup Series hosted the annual Busch Clash, an exhibition race the week prior to the Daytona 500, at the LA Coliseum from 2022-2024.

Joey Logano, Martin Truex Jr., and Denny Hamlin won the respective races. In 2021, the Cup Series ran the Clash at the Daytona Road Course, an event won by Kyle Busch. The event was traditionally held on the 2.5-mile oval Daytona International Speedway from 1979-2020.

Who is Rick Ware Racing's Clash driver Tim Brown?

Tim Brown will get the opportunity to add another victory at the Bowman Gray Stadium to his resume if he can pull off a win in next month's NASCAR Cup Series Busch Clash. Brown is most known for his success at Bowman Gray Stadium as he holds 101 victories in the modified division at the track, the most of all-time.

Brown isn't too familiar to NASCAR competition, however, as he's never competed in a Cup Series event. The Cana, Virginia native competed in one CRAFTSMAN Truck Series race back in 2009 at Martinsville, where he finished 27th in the #08 Rick Ware truck.

Tim Brown competed in the Whelen Modified Tour from 2005-2013. He won seven races and scored a best points finish of second three times from 2006-2008.
