NASCAR legend Kevin Harvick will participate in the zMAX CARS Tour in a doubleheader weekend at North Wilkesboro Speedway on August 3rd. Harvick co-owns the grassroots series with Dale Earnhardt Jr., and NASCAR veterans Jeff Burton and Justin Marks.
Kevin Harvick, the 2014 Cup Series champion, has had a distinguished career in stock car racing. Having participated in over 800 Cup races, he boasts 60 wins in NASCAR's top division, including the iconic Daytona 500. Harvick also claimed the Cup Series regular-season championship in 2020. His prowess extends to the Busch Series (now Xfinity), where he secured two championship titles, solidifying his status as a formidable motorsport athlete.
Earlier this month, Harvick participated in a five-hour-long test session at North Wilkesboro Speedway, along with 20 other CARS Tour drivers. Following the test, speculation arose that he might compete in a CARS Tour race. It was confirmed that Harvick would be piloting the #62 Hunt Brothers Pizza Chevrolet in the Window World 125 Late Model Stock Car event.
Here's a post confirming his presence via Speedway Digest on X(formerly Twitter):
"Kevin Harvick Ready to Race in Saturday’s Window World 125: Kevin Harvick is ready to get back behind the wheel."
Harvick began his racing career in the Late Model Stock Series before ascending to the Truck Series and eventually NASCAR's top division. Fans eagerly anticipate seeing the 48-year-old race at North Wilkesboro Speedway (NWS).
The doubleheader weekend at North Wilkesboro was originally scheduled for May 15 but was postponed due to rough weather and NASCAR's All-Star race. Kevin Harvick and Earnhardt Jr. have co-owned the zMAX CARS Tour Series since 2023 and have been actively involved in improving it.
Kevin Harvick expresses his views on NWS after a five-hour test session
Kevin Harvick piloted the #62 entry in the test session at NWS earlier this month. Although he hasn't raced in the zMAX tour regularly, Harvick mentioned he raced at North Wilkesboro once.
After a grueling test session, Harvick shared his thoughts on the .625-mile short oval track via an interview with FloRacing:
“From the driver's standpoint, for me, it's really about getting used to these cars. I raced the car one time here and that was the only time I've ever raced the car in the Late Model Stock division. So I think just getting used to the grip level and the yawl and everything that goes with a Late Model Stock is really the biggest thing.
"Just being involved in the team as we develop our team and what we need to do, what we need to work on and things like that. So we had a good day and looking forward to the week of the race."
As Harvick returns to Late Models, the former Cup Series champion would be looking to have a memorable weekend.
