NASCAR team owner Richard Childress' grandson Ty Dillon is all set to compete full-time in the Cup Series, piloting the #10 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for Matt Kaulig's Kaulig Racing. The 32-year-old recently shared his thoughts on returning to NASCAR's top division in a full-time capacity and also revealed who he was passionate about working with.

Dillon completed his first full-time season in the Truck Series in 2024, while driving the #25 Chevrolet for Rackley W.A.R. Additionally, he also appeared in the Cup Series five times behind the #16 Chevy for Kaulig Racing and secured his best finish in P16 at Texas Motor Speedway. However, after being announced as the pilot for Matt Kaulig's #10 team, the 32-year-old revealed his enthusiasm on having former Richard Childress Racing engineer Andrew Dickeson as his crew chief (via SiriusXM):

“I’ve known Andrew [Dickeson] for a long time. He came over from Australia from the V8 Supercars world, back in the day, was super successful over there. He was my engineer in Xfinity for a year, that was one of my most successful years,” Dillon said.
“As we were making decisions on working with [Kaulig Racing] and what we were going to do for a crew chief, Andrew just kept showing up and filling in on the No. 16, and they were having outstanding runs. Just listening to him on the radio, just his infectious positivity and belief in the team and himself, and his drive was something you want to be a part of," he added.

Austin Dillon, Ty Dillon’s brother, currently competes full-time in the Cup Series, driving the iconic #3 Chevrolet for their grandfather Richard Childress’s team, RCR. Ty Dillon has had a fluctuating Cup Series career, initially securing his first full-time ride in 2017 with Germain Racing. However, when Germain Racing exited NASCAR, it left the then-25-year-old without a Cup Series seat, leading to sporadic opportunities in the top division.

In 2025, Ty Dillon will replace Daniel Hemric and partner with AJ Allmendinger in the Cup Series as teammates. Allmendinger, a former Xfinity Series standout, will transition into a full-time Cup Series role with Kaulig Racing, marking his move from their Xfinity program to their top-tier effort

“They have a passion for winning”- Richard Childress’ grandson Ty Dillon optimistic on his return to the Cup Series

Former Truck Series driver Ty Dillon shared his excitement about returning to the NASCAR Cup Series for the 2025 season. With 245 races and seven top-ten finishes in his Cup career, Dillon described this opportunity as the "best" chance to reignite his career at the highest level.

“I wanted to be with Kaulig [Racing], they have such a passion for winning and doing things right in the sport, and for me, without a doubt, to work with this team again is the best opportunity I will have had in my Cup [Series] career," Richard Chlidress' grandson said.

Moreover, Dillon's move to Kaulig Racing has further strengthened ties between Richard Childress Racing and Matt Kaulig's team, who have had a close technical alliance.

The Cup Series will return for the Clash at Bowman Gray on February 2nd at 8:00 PM ET. Catch Dillon live in the #10 Kaulig Chevy, competing against his brother, Richard Childress Racing's #3 driver Austin Dillon on FOX, SiriusXM, and MRN.
