Truck Series racer Corey Day is considered by many as the next sensation in NASCAR. During a recent Herm & Schrader podcast, NASCAR legends Kenny Wallace and Ken Schrader discussed the rising star's potential future as Kyle Larson's teammate at Hendrick Motorsports.

While Day began his racing career riding dirt bikes, an incident during a race saw the youngster switch focus from two to four wheels. His father, Ronnie Day, a former stock car racing driver, helped the Californian racer compete in the USAC Restricted Mirco Sprints series in his family-owned racing team. Winning several accolades, Day progressed through the USAC National Midget, Late Model, and ARCA Menards series to eventually debut in the Truck Series in the 2024 season.

During a recent dirt race at Ventura Raceway, the 19-year-old prodigy clinched his first-ever Turkey Night Grand Prix. He also became the youngest winner of the iconic dirt racing event. NASCAR legends Wallace and Schrader spoke about Day potentially becoming Larson's teammate in HMS during a recent Herm & Schrader podcast.

"Turkey night at Ventura. They go 100 laps. Corey Day, as he's coming to the front, gets into Kyle Larson and loops him. Corey Day is 19 years old. He's a phenomenon. Your boss, I say that lighthearted, Rick Hendrick, already has Corey Day. Ain't that kind of funny? Corey Day is gonna be Kyle Larson's teammate one day. We're assuming. Corey Day says this in victory lane. He says, I didn't have Jesus in front of me to pass. Kyle Larson is Jesus. He's the greatest," Wallace said (0:00 onward).
"He passed Kyle once, but that's why Kyle was spinning because he hit him. But that stuff just happens sometimes, you know? I mean, it happens. It's just what he said. He's 19 years old. You know what I mean? Nothing smart ass about it. He just, I didn't have to pass him. That's a good thing," Schrader responded (0:37 onward).

A video of the above-mentioned conversation was shared on X by Kenny Wallace. Here's a look at the post:

"I’m excited to see how he progresses,"- Kyle Larson praised the upcoming NASCAR talent Corey Day despite his overly aggressive driving style

NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Larson praised the talented Corey Day for his performance during an ARCA Menards race at Bristol Motor Speedway in September this year.

The Hendrick Motorsports star driver expressed his opinion about the 19-year-old racer during a post-race media interaction.

"So he's obviously got an extreme amount of talent and I think he's got a lot of hype. But at the same time, he’s so new to stock car racing, that he is really learning and having to learn quickly. So I’m excited to see how he progresses," Larson said (3:33 onward).
"And as he understands the car more, I think you’ll see less mistakes, probably less over-aggression," he added (3:49 onward).
