Ricky Stenhouse Jr. jibes at NASCAR’s “golden spoons” amid controversial Martinsville race

NASCAR driver Ricky Stenhouse Jr. was tailing Ty Gibbs and Austin Dillon, who were battling it out on track during the Xfinity 500 playoff race at Martinsville Speedway. Stenhouse Jr. made a snide remark at the two drivers, before attempting to overtake the drivers on track.

Ricky Stenshouse Jr. pilots the #47 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for JTG Daughtry Racing, competing full-time in the Cup Series. In his NASCAR career, the Mississippi native has secured 14 race wins. Moreover, Stenhouse Jr. grabbed back-to-back Xfinity Series championships in 2011 and 2012, proving his mettle in the sport.

During the controversy-filled Xfinity 500, The #47 driver witnessed a battle between RCR's Austin Dillon, who is the grandson of team owner Richard Childress, and Ty Gibbs of JGR, who also happens to be the grandson of JGR team owner Joe Gibbs. As he watched the #3 of Dillon and the #54 of Gibbs tussling, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. made a sneering remark on the two 'golden spoon' drivers (via @Basso488 on X, formerly Twitter)

Moreover, Austin Dillon, along with Trackhouse's Ross Chastain and 23XI's Bubba Wallace, was involved in a deep controversy, where they reportedly tried to manipulate the results of the race. After NASCAR assessed the situation, heavy penalties were sanctioned on the three teams.

Meanwhile, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. started the Xfinity 500 in P28 and moved up 8 track positions before crossing the start-finish line. Although the #47 driver did not make it into the playoffs, he emerged victorious in the YellaWood 500 playoff race at Talladega Superspeedway, where he played spoiler.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. marked his name in the list of NASCAR's elite personalities, who have been continuously working towards rescuing and rebuilding the areas affected by Hurricane Helene.

After visiting Asheville, North Carolina—one of the areas most affected by recent natural disasters—Ricky Stenhouse Jr., along with members of the JTG Daugherty Racing team, shared a post on X expressing concern and solidarity with the impacted communities.

"We are here in Asheville, North Carolina, we've got a veterans community. We're with Team Rubicon, a veteran-led organization that comes in and helps in disaster and relief efforts. We're cleaning the upstairs floor, water was all the way, killed the bottom floor. So now we're cleaning up the top floors. We're trying to get this place back ready to go back together by Veterans Day,"

Other notable names, such as former Cup Series champions Joey Logano and Brad Keselowski, extended their support to those affected by Hurricane Helene. Moreover, in the initial aftermath of the catastrophe, Bristol Motor Speedway opened its gates for the evacuees, providing them with shelter and refuge.
