Ricky Stenhouse Jr.'s son Stetson is 'helping him' prepare for the upcoming Chili Bowl Nationals. In an Instagram story, Stenhouse Jr. shared a heartwarming picture of him watching TV with his son who is seated in a baby walker.
Stenhouse Jr. is a 37-year-old NASCAR Cup Series driver under Hyak Motorsports (formerly JTG Daugherty Racing). He and his wife Madyson welcomed their first-born son, Stetson Steele, on last year's Independence Day, July 4.
Stenhouse Jr. starts the new year with an entry for the Chili Bowl Nationals with a little help from Stetson.
"Stetson helping me prep for next week @cbnationals," Stenhouse Jr. wrote on Instagram.
The Tennessee native will drive the No. 86X CB Industries car in the so-called "Super Bowl of Midget Racing". It will mark his 18th appearance in the indoor midget racing event where he qualified for the championship feature eight times.
His best result was in 2021 when the then-No. 47 JTG Daugherty Racing driver finished seventh in the championship feature.
Stenhouse Jr. will qualify on Friday, February 17, for the championship feature on Saturday. The 2025 Chili Bowl Nationals will be held at SageNet Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
He will go up against fellow NASCAR drivers like Kyle Larson, Christopher Bell, and Ty Gibbs. Kyle Busch will also participate in the midget race for the first time in his racing career.
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. shares 2025 NASCAR season plans with son Stetson
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. had a glorious moment when he won at Talladega Superspeedway last season. However, the driver wasn't able to share the victory with his son Stetson Steele, which he hoped wouldn't happen again in 2025.
In an interview with Fox and Friends, Stenhouse Jr. said:
"I've been doing this sport of NASCAR racing for a long time now and it's cool to have our son, Stetson, taking him to the race track. He missed our big Talladega win. So looking forward to hopefully getting him in victory lane, you know, this year."
The YellaWood 500 at Talladega victory was Stenhouse Jr.'s fourth NASCAR Cup Series win. Driving the No. 47 Chevrolet Camaro, the then-JTG Daugherty Racing driver finished ahead of Brad Keselowski by 0.006 seconds.
Notably, the recent win was also the 37-year-old driver's fourth Cup career victory on a superspeedway. He won at Talladega and Daytona (Coke Zero 400) in 2017 before scoring his first Daytona 500 win six years later.
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. will return to the No. 47 Chevy under the same team but renamed Hyak Motorsports. The rebranding follows Gordon Smith becoming a majority owner and founders Tad and Jodi Geschickter leaving the team after the 2023 season.
Former NBA legend Brad Daugherty is still part of the team as a co-owner.
Stenhouse Jr. will kick off the 2025 season in the Daytona 500 on February 16 hoping to share the victory lane with his son for the first time.
