NASCAR Cup Series driver Justin Haley and his wife, Haley, took to social media prior to New Year's Eve to share a photo together during their trip to Puerto Rico. Rodney Childers, Justin's soon-to-be crew chief in the Cup Series in 2025, reacted to the post.
In a joint Instagram post, Haley and Justin stood alongside each other to snap a picture from their time in Puerto Rico. The wife of the #7 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet driver explained how they started 2024 not being at home, which is the same way they'll end the year.
"Ending 2024 the same way we spent it; not at home✈️," she wrote.
The post sparked a few comments with one coming from Childers, who reacted with two emojis.
"👏👏," Childers wrote.
Back in July, Childers was announced as the new crew chief for the #7 Spire Motorsports car beginning in 2025. At the time, there was yet to be an announcement on who the driver would be.
However, that changed in September when Haley moved from the #51 Rick Ware Racing Ford to the #7 machine in a driver swap with Corey LaJoie for the final seven races of the 2024 season. It was also announced that Haley would be the driver of the #7 full-time in 2025.
This past season, Haley posted a 31st-place finish in the points standings. The 25-year-old racked up three top 10s in the process.
For Childers, he spent the 2024 season on the pit box for Josh Berry, who piloted the #4 Stewart-Haas Racing car. Childers helped lead Berry to a 27th-place effort in the point standings while posting four top 10s and two top fives along the way. SHR ceased operations at the end of the 2024 season.
Spire Motorsports welcomed Childers as one of the "new guys" in a social media post
Spire Motorsports is welcoming crew chief Rodney Childers in with open arms ahead of the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season. The organization introduced him and Travis Peterson, the soon-to-be new crew chief for Michael McDowell's #71 Spire Motorsports car, as the "new guys" on the team in an Instagram post back in November.
"Welcomed in the new guys," they wrote.
Childers is a former Cup Series champion crew chief having been on the pit box when Kevin Harvick drove his #4 car to the 2014 championship. He'll be the crew chief for Justin Haley, who has one victory in the Cup Series after winning a rain-shortened event at Daytona in 2019.
Peterson, meanwhile, joins as the crew chief for McDowell. McDowell has two victories in the Cup Series, including the 2021 Daytona 500.
