Rodney Childers penned a note for Rick Hendrick after the former's wife, Katrina, drove home a brand-new Porsche from the Hendrick Porsche dealership in Charlotte, North Carolina.

In a recent Instagram post, Championship-winning crew chief Rodney Childer's wife was snapped inside a Porsche Cayenne, a luxury crossover SUV. In the social media post, the former #4 Stewart-Haas Racing crew chief also showed his appreciation to 'Mr. H', the owner of Hendrick Motorsports and Hendrick Automotive groups, as he wrote:

"A huge thank you to Mr H, Greg Bancroft and everyone at Hendrick Porsche for helping make Katrina Childers a happy girl.. ❤️" wrote Childers on Instagram.

Before becoming a crew chief for Kevin Harvick and #4 Ford of SHR, the 48-year-old Mooresville, North Carolina native competed in the World Karting Association and Late Model Stock Car division. Additionally, Childers made a one-off appearance in the 2000 Xfinity Series race at Myrtle Beach Speedway.

However, he focused on becoming a mechanic and started his career as crew chief of Scott Riggs in 2005. Rodney Childers' partnership with Harvick began in the 2014 Cup Series season when the duo clinched their maiden championship trophy. He continued to be the crew chief of the #4 car until Harvick retired from the Ford roster in 2023.

Childers then served as Josh Berry's crew chief for the 2024 season, but that position was short-lived as Tony Stewart-led SHR announced that they would be closing all operations next season onwards.

Earlier this year, Stewart-Haas Racing announced its departure from the NASCAR series leaving the future of the members of the Ford roster in limbo. While the four SHR drivers found new homes, the veteran crew chief Rodney Childers found a new shed under the Spire Motorsports banner.

Ahead of the final Cup Series race at Phoenix Raceway, Katrina Childers shared her thoughts on leaving the famed Cup Series team. In an Instagram post, she penned down a heartfelt note and said:

"Yesterday was emotional. Leaving SHR for the last time was surreal but I am so thankful for all the memories we will forever have from that place. Looking forward to @rchilders4 new venture!! We are so ready to cheer him and his new team on!!! 🏁"

Moreover, Childers shared his side of parting thoughts as he cleaned out his office and desk in a post on X (formerly Twitter). The 48-year-old wrote:

"11 years and over 4000 days of working at SHR. Office has been cleaned out and tomorrow will be my last day in the building.. Still hard to even fathom. So many great memories. But I’m excited for what’s next and blessed to be able to go be with another family of racers.."

Rodney Childers will be the crew chief of Justin Haley who will pilot the #7 Chevy for Spire. Haley made his debut with the Jeff Dickerson-owned team in 2019 when he secured his first surprise Cup Series win at the Coke Zero Sugar 400 race at Daytona International Speedway.
