Reigning NASCAR Cup Series champion Ryan Blaney claimed his second win of the 2024 season in Sunday’s The Great American Getaway 400 at Pocono Raceway. After conquering the Pocono race track, Blaney’s crew chief at #12 Ford Mustang for Team Penske, Jonathan Hassler, is excited about the upcoming races.

It was their second win in the last five weeks, and it came at the right time, as the Pocono win has boosted Blaney and his team’s confidence and provided much-needed momentum as they are heading into the business end of the regular season.

Speaking to SiriusXM NASCAR Radio after the Pocono win, Hassler stated that they have been working hard as a team and expressed his excitement about the potential for further success in the upcoming races.

After the race, here’s what Hassler said:

“Yeah, I think we're all working together really hard. We've identified some areas to find speed, and I think we've got a little spark, so I'm certainly excited about the next few tracks.”

Further in the interview with SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, speaking about what this win at Pocono Raceway means to them, Hassler said:

“Yeah, like I said, as we look towards the end of the season, I think one of our weaknesses this year has been the mile-and-a-half Intermediate Program. So, like I said, to get a little bit of speed and a little bit of momentum on those kinds of tracks is really good for us.”

Ryan Blaney’s crew chief aims to dominate the summer racing season in NASCAR

With two wins in the last five races this season, Ryan Blaney and his team are in a good position. With five races remaining in the regular season, Blaney currently sits seventh in the Cup Series playoff standings and just 76 points behind points leader Chase Elliott.

Jonathan Hassler also revealed in the interview that they are aiming to become the toughest team to beat at this stage of the season. It would not be wrong to say that the defending champions’ recent performances confirmed that they are on the right path to fulfill that objective.

“We set out a goal as a team to be the team of the summer, and I think we're certainly turning that corner and starting to do that,” Hassler added.

Catch Ryan Blaney and his team in action at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway next weekend. The 22nd race of the season is set to kick off at 2:30 pm ET on Sunday, July 21, 2024.
