RFK Racing, co-owned by Jack Roush and NASCAR Cup Series driver Brad Keselowski, announced on Tuesday that they'll be expanding to a three-car team in 2025 with Kroger as a sponsor for all three. Ryan Preece will be the man behind the wheel of the third car as he'll pilot the #60 Kroger Ford.
The annoucement sparked over 100 replies on RFK Racing's X post, with many showing optimism towards what Preece can accomplish with the organization.
One user believes the 34-year-old will register his first Cup Series win and playoff appearance with the team.
"Let’s f****** go! You guys won’t regret this Ryan preece playoffs/ win incoming!!!" they wrote.
A few other users penned messages on X congratulating Preece on securing the opportunity and they believe that he's going to rack up some victories with the organization in the future. One wrote:
"@RyanPreece_ will be winning some races!!"
"Wow! Congratulations to Ryan Preece and to RFK!" said another user.
"I think that’s a wise decision. I believe with a hot rod under him he’ll do great things," said another.
While there were many positive comments, not all race fans were pleased with RFK Racing's decision to put Preece behind the wheel. One user brought up four-time Cup Series winner Ricky Stenhouse Jr., a former Jack Roush driver and a former driver with the Kroger sponsorship at JTG Daugherty Racing.
"Sometimes I feel like this team has a deep hatred for Ricky Stenhouse, hope Preece still runs 28th every week," they wrote.
A few others chimed in expressing their disappointment in RFK Racing's choice, with one writing:
"What a disappointing driver"
"How does Ryan Preece keep failing upward? Wasn’t good with JTG Daughtery. Got a ride with SHR. Wasn’t good there either. At some point you have to admit he’s just not good," wrote another.
"That’s awsome to bad preece is in the car dude is terrible," wrote a third.
Preece spent the previous two seasons wheeling the #41 Stewart-Haas Racing Ford. He posted five top-10s and one top-five in 2024 while tallying only two top-10s and a top-five in 2023. Prior to that, Preece spent three seasons at JTG Daugherty Racing (2019-2021), posting nine top-10s during his stint in the #37 car.
Ryan Preece paid homage to the Talladega Nights movie this year at Talladega
Ryan Preece drove a Wonder Bread #41 car in the 188-lap Cup Series race at the Talladega Superspeedway, a paint scheme inspired by the movie Talladega Nights, released in 2006. In the movie, Ricky Bobby, portrayed by actor Will Ferrell, drives a Wonder Bread-sponsored car.
Stewart-Haas Racing posted a video on Instagram, showing off the car prior to the race.
"But we do love Stewart-Haas Racing," they wrote.
Unfortunately for Preece, he crashed out of the event and finished 35th. SHR, co-owned by Tony Stewart and Gene Haas, ceased operations at the end of the 2024 season after 16 years of NASCAR competition.
