Throughout his career, Kyle Busch has been sponsored by energy drink brands like Monster Energy and NOS Energy. In 2019, the two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion formed his own energy drink company, Rowdy Energy.
The "Rowdy" name is homage to the 63-time Cup Series winner's nickname. Back in 2021, the Las Vegas native sat down for an interview to discuss how the idea of energy drink came about and how he went about making it. When Busch got the idea to start his own company, he wanted to think outside the box and do what other energy drinks weren't doing. He said:
"We went after the white space. What is everybody doing and what aren't they doing? What is nobody else out there doing? Well, nobody else is out there doing clean energy. So, we have no synthetic ingredients. Everything is all-natural." (16:28 onwards)
The former driver of the #18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota went on to say that his wife, Samantha, played a prominent role in the flavor and ingredients of the drink. Busch said his wife had never drank an energy drink before, so when he formed the Rowdy Energy brand, she wanted it to be something she felt comfortable drinking.
"My wife, she never drank an energy drink," Busch said. "Never wanted to touch one. When we were doing this project, she was like, 'Well hey, are you going to make this where it's something I could drink? I would like to drink something that tastes good.' That was another thing is we had to work on the taste. So that's why it's all-natural and she feels comfortable drinking it." (17:16 onwards)
The first batch of Rowdy Energy was produced in January of 2020 and sold in ten different flavors. However, the company ceased operations in January of 2024.
Kyle Busch finished 20th in the 2024 standings amid second season at Richard Childress Racing
Kyle Busch's 2024 sophomore season with Richard Childress Racing fell short of expectations. The driver of the #8 Chevrolet finished 20th in the points standings, matching his career-worst finish from his rookie season in 2005.
Busch failed to win a race in 2024, marking the first time he didn't win at least one race in a season in his 20-year NASCAR Cup Series career. He also failed to make the playoffs for the first time since 2012. Busch racked up 10 top 10s, five top fives, and scored a pole at Dover.
Busch spent 15 seasons behind the wheel of the #18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota, where he won two championships in 2015 and 2019. He joined RCR ahead of the 2023 season and won three races in his first year with the team.
