Former Stewart-Haas Racing driver Chase Briscoe posted a story earlier today filled with Christmas cheer. The photo showed Briscoe, his wife Marissa, his eldest son Brooks Wayne, and their twins Collins Ivy and Cooper Banks who were visited by Santa Claus at their house in Monroe, NC.
The newest Joe Gibbs Racing driver showed off the special visitor to his family in front of their decorated Christmas tree and mantle:
Briscoe will be replacing the 2017 NASCAR Cup Champion Martin Truex Jr. in the JGR Team line-up and join drivers Denny Hamlin, Ty Gibbs, and Christopher Bell. The 30-year-old described his move to the five-time NASCAR Cup Championship winning team as one that comes with some stresses. He said (via NASCAR.com):
"I do think this is probably the most pressure I’ve ever been (under) in my life, as far as professionally.”
In terms of the differences between his former team and his new home for the 2025 season, Briscoe elaborated:
“SHR, where we were as a company was totally different. We weren’t expected, really, to go win. And if you win, then awesome, right? That’s great. But you weren’t expected to go win week in, week out, where at JGR, you are expected to be up front every single weekend. So from that standpoint, it is going to be totally different than anything I’ve really had in my career. So yeah, I’ll just have to figure it out.”
The 2021 Rookie of The Year honoree completed his 2024 season, his fourth with Stewart-Haas, 14th in the standings with a win at Darlington Raceway. He also had three top-5s and nine top-10s.
Chase Briscoe on his Stewart-Haas Racing exit
In May this year, co-owners Gene Haas and Tony Stewart announced that after the 2024 season, Stewart-Haas Racing would be closing down its Cup Series teams and Xfinity series teams, leaving driver Chase Briscoe free to take a spot at Joe Gibbs Racing for the following season.
Talking about moving from SHR to JGR, the Indiana-born driver said (via NASCAR):
“Honestly, I already kind of turned the chapters because we were locked out of the building and everything. We couldn’t even go back, so I mean, truthfully, I’ve already cleaned my closet out. I kept some stuff, but, yeah, I mean, there’s really no SHR in existence anymore, right?"
Briscoe cleaned out his locker at SHR hours after he raced in Phoenix in November earlier this year. The final time that Briscoe appeared as a SHR Driver was at the postseason awards celebration.
