Since his retirement in 2017, the two-time NASCAR Xfinity Series champion Dale Earnhardt Jr. has been on a journey to give back to society. Last September he raised over $80,000 for the Nationwide Children's Hospital with his Bristol race's gears.
Dale Jr. participated in his maiden race during the Xfinity Series playoffs on Saturday, September 20, 2024. He faced several major setbacks with his team radio, causing him a penalty. Despite the hardships, Junior finished seventh on the grid. The foundation decided to auction off Earnhardt Jr.'s race-worn gloves to help raise funds for the hospital.
NASCAR reporter Jospeh Srigley revealed the particulars of the auction by sharing an X post. Hendrick Motorsports driver Kyle Larson's gloves were auctioned for $5,250, while Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s gloves were auctioned for almost thrice the price, reaching a final bid of $15,435.
