Fans reacted to the rumor that Jimmie Johnson's Cup Series team, Legacy Motor Club, could be parting ways with John Hunter Nemechek soon. Unofficial news suggests that Corey Heim, who drives the No. 11 Toyota for TRICON Garage full-time in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, could replace Nemechek.

Legacy Motor Club has been making several changes to its Cup Series roster lately. Arguably, the biggest of those changes came last year when the Statesville, North Carolina-based outfit switched to Toyota from Chevrolet.

That same year, Legacy Motor Club assigned John Hunter Nemechek to drive the No. 42 entry for the team. Furthermore, LMC recently replaced former crew chief Dave Elenz and announced that Brian Campe, the newly appointed Technical Director for the team, would serve as the interim crew chief for Nemechek.

And now, rumors suggest that Nemechek too could be replaced. This is what NASCAR on Reddit posted on X (formerly Twitter) yesterday:

Several fans reacted to the rumor with one bashing Johnson.

"Seems about right for Jimmy. I hope people are taking not of this a**hole. For years all of us who hated Jimmy were told he’s such a nice guy if you could only see him away from the camera. He seems like a real pr**k away from the camera if you ask me."

Referring to Legacy Motor Club as a "dumpster fire," another fan commented:

"Heim deserves a promotion but Legacy is a dumpster fire right now. Hard to believe he’d do much better than what Jones and JHN have done this year."

Here are some other reactions to the post:

"Why? Legacy Motor Club has been trash for two years now. The 43 and Erik Jones ran so much better before it became Legacy. Is it really JHN, or a bad race team?" a fan wrote.
"Unless the cars and or teams are better expect the same results," added another.
"It doesn't really matter who's driving that car, overall that car is just terrible we see it with Nemechek this year with Gragson last year and with Ty Dillon the year before and I bet if heim is driving it's going to run the same as the previous years," said a fan.

Neither Legacy Motor Club nor John Hunter Nemechek have confirmed the rumor yet. Corey Heim has never competed in the Xfinity Series as a full-timer. Therefore, landing a full-time Cup Series deal would indeed be a big deal for the 22-year-old American.

"That night at Homestead will always hold a special place in my heart"- Jimmie Johnson reminisced about his 2016 Homestead outing

November 20, 2016, is a day that Jimmie Johnson will forever hold dear to his heart. That is the day he matched NASCAR stalwarts Dale Earnhardt and Richard "The King" Petty in the most number of Cup Series titles (seven) held by a driver. Johnson is the first and only driver in the history of NASCAR to win five titles in a row from 2006 to 2010.

Just ahead of last Sunday's race at Homestead-Miami Speedway, where Jimmie Johnson won his seventh career title, the NASCAR Hall of Famer shared a clip from his 2016 victory (via NASCAR on NBC), and wrote,

"Honored to be mentioned alongside two legends of our sport. That night at Homestead will always hold a special place in my heart."

Johnson retired from full-time NASCAR racing in 2020. However, he competed part-time in the IndyCar Series in 2021 and full-time in 2022. Johnson drove the No. 84 Toyota Camry XSE this year at the Daytona 500, Texas Motor Speedway, Dover Motor Speedway, Kansas Speedway, and Charlotte Motor Speedway.
