Justin Allgaier recently shared how his family has been a support system throughout his racing career. At the awards banquet in Charlotte, North Carolina, the JR Motorsports driver highlighted the crucial role of his wife Ashley in his NASCAR success.
Allgaier, the full-time Xfinity Series driver, won his maiden Championship title after being a part of the stock-car racing division for almost 15 years. The 38-year-old competed in over 450 races and secured 25 wins in NASCAR's second-tier series. He finished runner-up in the 2023 final driver's points standings but now has etched his name on the coveted Xfinity trophy.
In a recent conversation, the #7 Chevy driver expressed his feelings for his wife, Ashley, who stood beside him during the interview and said (via Frontstretch):
"So for me, I'm gonna say beside every great man there's an even better woman. And she's been that for me. She's never been behind me. She's always stood side by side with me and gone toe to toe with me a few times. But I think that for me, I think it's understated what she does outside the race track." [1:54]
Furthermore, the 25-time Xfinity race winner added:
"And I'm very, very proud of the family that we have and what we're able to do at the race track every week and a week out. And I have a race team that cultivates that and wants that and grows that and I have sponsors that are that same way. And that goes a long way for me. If it wasn't for them and being able to be a part of it, I would have quit a long time ago. So this is special for me." [2:40]
"I don't want the night to end," Justin Allgaier opened up on entering the NASCAR Award banquet as a champion
As an Xfinity Series champion, Justin Allgaier recently made his first red-carpet appearance at the NASCAR Awards banquet in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Illinois native gave a preview of his championship-winning speech.
In the conversation, Allgaier reflected on his surreal moment which was long overdue for the JR Motorsports driver. He said(via NASCAR):
"I feel like this moment is different, you know. We've gone through all the walkthroughs, we've done everything and, you know, I don't know what it would be like getting up on that stage."
"I'm just so relieved and happy that we finally have made this happen that. I don't know it's a completely different thought process for me going into this banquet than I've ever had so I'm excited for that and I don't want the night to end," Allgaier continued.
It is worth mentioning that Justin Allgaier not only accepted the title trophy this evening but also the NASCAR Xfinity's Most Popular Driver Award for the fifth time in the last six years.
