Former NASCAR driver Tony Stewart was featured on the Sullivan Old Town BBQ YouTube channel’s video on December 5, 2024. The three-time NASCAR champion discussed drag racing, NASCAR, and his wife during his appearance.
Tony Stewart's wife, Leah Pruett is a NHRA Top Fuel racer and driver for his team. During his appearance on the video, Stewart went on and took a lighthearted jab at her wife's cooking skills. He said:
“You just keep her here for about 10 years and teach her how to cook.” (12:09 onwards)
“Well I can do a lot of things and miracles are not one of them, I'll tell you that. I've heard how she cooks. Don't put that on film,” the video host replied.
Stewart continued:
“Don't worry. If she was here, we'd say that right in front of her. She agrees with it. The last time she cooked it was just barely tolerable and I ate the whole thing and thought, 'God, I'm good for a while,' and next day she goes, 'I'm going to cook'. I'm like, 'I don't think my body can take this'. I got about half way through the plate and she got three bites. She goes, 'We're not doing this. Let's go.'”
“When she wouldn't even eat her own food, I just need to be a little more patient when she puts her plate down and let her get started on it first,” added the former NASCAR driver.
Tony Stewart is a three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion and one-time IndyCar champion. He bought a 50 percent stake in the Haas CNC Racing in 2008 midway through his racing career. He successfully ran the Stewart-Haas Racing for over a decade and a half before announcing the team's closure earlier this year. Stewart currently owns the Tony Stewart Racing Nitro NHRA championship team.
“Got a lot to sort out”: NASCAR insider on the future of Tony Stewart's SHR charters
Stewart Haas Racing announced the dissolution of the team earlier this year. Gene Haas, the co-owner of the team, decided to keep one charter for the 2025 entry.
Tony Stewart's team had a total of four charters and the other three charters are up for sale. 23XI and Front Row Motorsports are reportedly the frontrunners for two charters. Motorsports journalist Jordan Bianchi gave his opinion on what's next for the SHR charters.
Bianchi said (via The Teardown 2024 Finale):
“The SHR part is certainly interesting and I don't think you would necessarily see a lawsuit from SHR. From my understanding and the conversations I've had with people... people have made inquiries about those charters. Like, 'Hey, are those available? If they're available we're interested in them.'" (7:30 onwards)
“I don't think that SHR's going to be in a spot of like, 'What are we going to do here? We don't want these. We're in scramble mode.' I think they're going to have suitors for them. The problem is we're in mid-December and the season starts in what, eight weeks or whatever it is. And so you've got a lot to sort out between then,” he added.
Gene Haas will be taking the one charter into the 2025 season and rebranding the team as Haas Factory Racing.
