NASCAR fans expressed their outrage after Conner Jones' incident with Matt Mills at the Craftsman Truck Series playoff race in Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Jones currently competes part-time in the No. 66 Ford F-150 for ThorSport Racing in the Craftsman Truck Series. He was given a two-lap penalty for reckless driving during the recent race at the Baptist Health 200. Jones hit fellow driver Matt Mills's vehicle (No. 42 Chevrolet) which caused it to smash into the wall and catch fire.

"Conner Jones being held for two laps for reckless driving," Bob Pockrass wrote.

This was the Niece Motorsports driver's third consecutive race to end in a crash. The AMS Safety Crew assisted Mills in exiting the vehicle, and he was subsequently taken to a local hospital for a check-up.

NASCAR fans took to X to express their disapproval of Jones' actions.

"Should be parked," wrote one fan.
"IM TIRED OF IT, " wrote another.
"About damn time they started doing this to drivers again," opined yet another.

Some fans supported NASCAR's penalty, while others believed the punishment should have been worse.

"NASCAR with a good call for once?" wrote one fan.
"His radio communication with his team is embarrassing. Not just the rant about the crash. Career defining moment. He failed," expressed another.
"Should have been next 2 races not 2 laps," stated yet another.

Jones made his Truck Series debut last year, participating in nine events. He finished 33rd in points and secured four top-twenty finishes, with his best result being a 15th-place finish at Bristol.

Over three years in the ARCA Menards Series, the 18-year-old has competed in 14 races, securing 11 top-10 finishes. Having started in 2021, he achieved a 3rd-place finish at Dover and a 5th-place finish at Iowa. He also clinched the Pro Late Model Championship in 2023.

"Seen it at least 4 or 5 times from my POV this year" - Fellow driver on Conner Jones' reckless driving

Mason Massey, the driver of the No. 02 Chevrolet Silverado for Young's Motorsports, took to X to point out that this was not the first time Conner Jones had been involved in such an incident.

"I wonder how many times @connerjones88 is going to run through somebody before something is done about it? I’ve seen it at least 4 or 5 times from my POV this year," Massey wrote.

Jones was also heard venting over his in-car radio following the crash.

"I haven’t done sh*t to him...I’m tired of it, I’m f***ing tired of it," he said.

The Virginia native began his racing career at the age of five in go-karts. He clinched the Bandolero Bandit Virginia state championship in 2017. The following year, he transitioned to Legends cars and secured the INEX Virginia State Young Lions championship in 2019.
