The 18th Cup Series season race recently got done and dusted at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway. With less than 40 laps to go, the USA Today 301 witnessed a late race wreck between Stewart-Haas Racing driver Noah Gragson and Bubba Wallace.

After a rain-delayed restart in the final stage, NASCAR officials decided to allow the use of the wet weather tires for the second time this season. The race saw #20 Christopher Bell emerge victorious on the 301-lap event in New Hampshire, securing his third win for the season. However, the race neither favored #10 Gragson, who finished P27, nor the 23XI Racing driver Wallace, who couldn't finish the race.

In a recent conversation, the SHR driver admitted his fault which led to the late crash with Wallace's Toyota that ended the latter's day prematurely. The 25-year-old Gragson said (via NBC Sports):

"I just lacked grip. Super loose all the way around the track. Must’ve hit the paint on entry to (turn) one, and not intentionally by any means with the 23 (Bubba Wallace). Just a mistake on my part. It was unfortunate and I apologize to the 23 guys for ruining their day. That’s obviously not what we want to do and not what I want to do. It was completely unintentional."

Gragson, a Las Vegas native, struggled on the grip and slid into Wallace on the above lane. As a result, #23 Wallace collided with #3 and hit the outside wall.

A brief look into Noah Gragson's NASCAR Cup Series season

The #10 Ford driver Noah Gragson is in his second full-time Cup season. After joining Stewart-Haas Racing in 2024, Gragson's future is in limbo.

With SHR's announcement of closing shop and selling their four-car charter, Gragson, alongside his SHR fellow teammates, Josh Berry, Chase Briscoe, and Ryan Preece, is on the lookout for a new ride for the next season.

However, with these four drivers in the free agent markets and NASCAR teams wanting to fill spots, #10 Gragson could find himself under the Front Row Motorsports banner as the team set to add a third charter for the 2025 season. Also, FRM's veteran driver Michale McDowell is set to join Spire Motorsports after the current season, which leaves them with two spots to fill.

Moreover, with the recent announcement of Gene Haas, co-owner of SHR, retaining a charter in the Cup Series, #10 Ford driver Gragson could continue his partnership with the Ford roster.

As Gragson is yet to decide on his uncertain future, he currently sits at P25 in the overall Cup Series standings with one top-five and five top-ten finishes after 18 races in the 2024 Cup Series season.
