Kyle Busch's wife, Samantha Busch, fulfilled a lifelong dream by visiting the place where her father grew up. She has been sharing her excitement with her fans, posting updates and photos of the preparations for their trip to Italy.
Samantha had been planning the wardrobe and essentials for the vacation, looking forward to exploring Europe and especially the town significant to her family's history.
Once there, Samantha captured a heartfelt moment with her grandparents, whom she affectionately calls Nonno and Nonnie, standing in front of an old door that held memories of her father's childhood. She took to Instagram to share the special moment, posting a photo with her Nonno and Nonnie, overjoyed to be connecting with her roots.
"So surreal knowing he was born here. My pops was really sick when he was little and he said Nonno and Nonnie made a trip to the Vatican to say a prayer for him.
"Amazing getting to see and learn all of this I have always heard the story but to actually get to be here is incredible."
The Buschs faced a sleep-deprived first day in Rome due to her daughter's restlessness on the flight, but that didn't stop her from diving into the city's storied past. She and her family visited the Colosseum, an ancient symbol of Roman engineering, primarily known for its gladiatorial contests.
Kyle Busch's wife, Samantha Busch, captured the moment with a selfie alongside her husband and son. She wore a rose-red dress paired with white sneakers, while Kyle opted for a casual grey T-shirt, and their son Brexton wore a crisp white T-shirt. Despite the fatigue, the family enjoyed exploring this historic site, once the epicenter of Roman entertainment.
Kyle Busch desperately wanted the two-week break
Kyle Busch had been counting down to the two-week break, feeling the strain of one of the toughest seasons of his 21-year NASCAR Cup Series career.
Despite his reputation as one of the most successful drivers on the circuit, Busch hasn't won any race this season. At this point last year, he had three wins.
Kyle Busch's frustration peaked at Indianapolis when, after a run at P6, he clashed with former teammate Denny Hamlin, crashing his #8 car into the wall and marking his sixth DNF of the season. In a post-race interview, an upset Busch expressed his disappointment:
"Got right where we wanted to b w a good car and some really good pit calls. I’m really sorry to all my guys and RCR for crashing while trying to b aggressive and get them a top-5 finish. Ready for this two wk break. Really need it."
Kyle Busch also acknowledged the struggles with his car's performance on the Pat McAfee show, admitting:
"Our cars have not been that great right now. We're working on it. ... Like I joined RCR, we won three of the first 12, 15 races or something like that, it was pretty good, and then we haven't won since." [at 7:53]
As he takes a break, Kyle Busch will be eyeing the remaining four races to secure a spot in the playoffs as he hopes for a turnaround.
