The only win Chevrolet has at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway in the last 17 years reportedly came through the hands of Kevin Harvick in 2016. This was when he won the Bad Boy Off Road 300 and advanced to the Round of 12. Now, Hendrick Motorsports driver Alex Bowman feels the narrative could change at the "Magic Mile" in London this week.

Alex Bowman joined Hendrick Motorsports in 2017 as the replacement for Dale Earnhardt Jr. behind the wheel of the iconic #88 Chevy. When ex-HMS driver Jimmie Johnson retired, Bowman took over the former's number 48 ride.

In seven full seasons as a Hendrick Motorsports driver, Alex Bowman has amassed seven career wins. This year, he has bagged four top-5s and 10 top-10s.

However, the Chevy star doesn't have any top 5 performances at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The sole top-10 finish that he has to his name at the 1.058-mile track came in 2021. Nevertheless, Bowman hopes that the winless streak will change this weekend.

"Hopefully we change it this weekend. We try every time we come here to be better, some years have been better than others," said the Tuscan, Arizona native in a recent interview."

He added:

"Last year obviously was a pretty big struggle so, hopefully we hit on it this week. I think we're way different than we've been in the past and hopefully that pays off."

Alex Bowman also made a start in the Xfinity Series Sci Aps 200 on Saturday and in doing so, became the fourth and the final Hendrick Motorsports driver to run a NASCAR Xfinity Series race in 2024.

His teammates, Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson, have run one race each while William Byron has competed in two Xfinity races this season.

Alex Bowman feels confident despite NASCAR canceling qualifying sessions

According to reports, the qualifying and practice for Sunday's event were canceled due to unfavorable weather conditions. As a result, starting positions will be decided on metrics based on owner points, driver points, finishing positions in last week's race at Iowa Speedway, and also, the fastest laps in last week's qualifying.

However, Alex Bowman feels confident about the race even without practice and qualifying. Reflecting on the same, the 31-year-old speedster said in the previous interview with Frontstretch:

"I feel pretty comfortable without practice and qualifying on the Cup side. I think we're gonna start pretty decent if we don't qualify."

In his last six starts at NHMS, Alex Bowman qualified 25th, 27th, 5th, 8th, 37th and 8th. His best qualifying result at the track was a P5 which came on July 18, 2021. Bowman has never led a lap at the track.

"My qualifying record here isn't very good so selfishly I'm not too sad about it," he added with a laugh.

After having started 37th, Bowman wound up with a top 10 performance at the Sci Aps 200 on Saturday. Currently, he sits 12th on the NASCAR Cup Series point standings with 474 points.
