Speedway Motorsports has been recognized as one of the top places to work in sports by the Sports Business Journal. As one of the leading American companies, Speedway Motorsports owns and operates premier auto racing venues that host events sanctioned by major racing series such as NASCAR, NHRA, World of Outlaws, and more.
The American Auto Racing operating giant based in Charlotte, North Carolina, was founded in 1994 by Bruton Smith. The company owns 11 premier racing facilities that host NASCAR races throughout its yearly campaign. Their most notable purchases are North Wilkesboro Speedway, New Hampshire Motor Speedway, and Kentucky Speedway. Moreover, Speedway Motorsports also owns Performance Racing Network, which partially covers races across NASCAR's top three divisions.
Recently, the Sports Business Journal honored Speedway Motorsports with the Silver Medal in the Professional Services category of its "Best Places to Work in Sports" awards. Competing against more than 200 companies who had been nominated, Speedway Motorsports received recognition for its commitment to creating a positive work environment.
President and CEO of Speedway Motorsports, Marcus Smith shared his thoughts on receiving the honor. Smith said (via Jayski),
“Speedway Motorsports prides itself on creating remarkable events for fans, giving back to the communities where we operate, continuously improving and taking care of our teammates.
“As a leader in the entertainment space, this recognition is a testament to the culture that can be created when organizations put people first. We strive to be a place where our guests want to visit and make lifelong memories, and where our teammates thrive as well. We are honored to be selected among the Best Places to Work in Sports.”
