Truck Series driver Matt Mills took to social media to provide an update on his condition after being released from a Florida hospital following a crash in Saturday's race at the Homestead-Miami Speedway. The driver of the #42 Niece Motorsports Chevrolet said he was a bit "raspy" but is in great spirits as he headed back home.

In a post that he shared on personal X account, Mills expressed his gratitude for those that showed support to him over the weekend and added a video where he gave a detailed update on his condition.

Mills went on to say the support made things easier, despite the fact that he had to stay in the hospital for two nights. The driver gave an insight on his condition, saying:

"Still a little raspy as you can hear, but all the overwhelming support and text messages I got just mean so much to me. Definitely didn't like being in the hospital as long as I was or being in that situation, so having you guys there to support me and help me get through that, I can't thank y'all enough."

Per Niece Motorsports, Mills was taken to the hospital for observation due to smoke inhalation after an incident involving himself and Conner Jones, who drives the #66 truck. Jones made contact with Mills, sending him into the wall. A statement from Mills' team read:

"Matt Mills driver of the No. 42 J.F. Electric/Utilitra Chevrolet for Niece Motorsports in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series, is being transported to a local hospital for further observation after contact during today's race at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Additional updates will be forthcoming, with no additional comments at this time."

Mills doesn't seem to be taking any time off as he went on to say in the video that he plans to be at the Truck Series race next week at Martinsville and is motivated to end the season on a high note. Mills added:

"We've got two more races to try and get a good finish and get some momentum for that 2025 year. Just ready to get home, get cleaned up, and continue the recovery process. See y'all in Martinsville."

Conner Jones issued an apology for Matt Mills' crash

Conner Jones took to social media following Saturday's Truck Series race to apologize for the incident involving himself and Matt Mills. Jones admitted that he let his frustration get the best of him, leading him to intentionally run into the back of Mills' #42 truck, sending him into the wall.

"I would like to extend my sincerest apologies to Matt, Niece Motorsports, NASCAR, and my entire ThorSport Racing team for my unsportsmanlike behavior. My thoughts are with Matt, during this time after hearing that he has been taken to the hospital for further evaluation following the contact on the racetrack," he said.

In the race, Jones was penalized two laps for the incident and finished 25th, while Mills finished last in 34th. With two races left in the season, Mills is 23rd in the points standings and Jones is 30th.
