NASCAR driver Kyle Larson recently shared his plans to continue racing in different disciplines of motorsport, following the end of the Cup Series season at Phoenix Raceway. Larson had one of the most successful campaigns of his Cup career, however, he was eliminated from the playoffs after the Round of 8.

Kyle Larson, the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series champion, drives the #5 Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports, competing full-time in the Cup Series. In his 12-year career, Larson has achieved 29 wins at NASCAR’s highest level, showcasing his consistency across different tracks and racing formats.

Larson is considered one of the most versatile motorsport athletes in the world. Following the qualifying session for the Championship Race at Phoenix, the HMS drwas asked whether he'd be racing during the off-season. Larson said(via Frontstretch on X, formerly Twitter)

"I'll do a handful of races for sure. Still trying figure out all my plans, but yeah, I've got some midget races coming up in the next few weeks and then I'll go to Australia. That's,my, for sure, races I'm doing right now."

Moreover, on being asked whether he would want to change anything in the current playoff format, the former Cup Series champion said:

"I think with the new style car, it could use some tweaking. I don't know what that is though. So I'm sure they're going to look at it. I'm sure they're going to take in advice from everybody within the sport and probably the fans as well[...] I think just our cars are so close now that I think they should look at, you know, doing something a little bit different. I don't think it needs to be drastically different, but yeah, I think small tweaks could help." he added

Despite his exit from the playoffs, Kyle Larson has the most race wins this season. He drove the #5 Chevy in P1 on six different occasions in 34 races. Moreover, Larson secured 14 top-five finishes and has led over 1600 laps, ahead of the season's final race at Phoenix.

Kyle Larson failing to run for championship leaves Xfinity star baffled, talks about playoff system

Xfininty Series driver Sage Karam recently expressed his views on the current playoff format, as HMS driver Kyle Larson, who has been the most successful driver of the season, did not make the cut into the final four.

Following the end of the Xfinity 500 at Martinsville, Karam wrote on X:

"Wild that Larson isn’t running for a championship after a year like he had. Sometimes I understand the playoffs but this one is hard to process honestly."

Meanwhile, following a strong qualifying run, Larson will start the Cup Series Championship Race from P4. His HMS teammate William Byron, who is in the title chase, is starting the race from P8. Fans can catch the action live on NBC Sports, MRN, and SiriusXM NASCAR Channel on Sunday, November 10, at 3:00 PM ET.
