NASCAR drivers Kyle Larson and Christopher Bell showcased their skills at the prestigious Tulsa Shootout held at the SageNet Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Both drivers secured victories in separate events during the four-day competition, earning praise from fans eagerly sharing their reactions to the impressive performances.
Former Cup Series champion Kyle Larson and Joe Gibbs Racing's ace driver Christopher Bell participated in several events and were in a hard-fought battle to win. At the same time, Bell emerged victorious in the Non-Wing Outlaw division, where Larson finished second.
However, the Hendrick Motorsport driver won the Winged Outlaw, and the Winged A Class events, where Bell finished P9 and P5 respectively. Following the end of the event, several fans criticized NASCAR after they shared a clip of the battle between the Cup Series drivers at Tulsa, for not being able to match the excitement and entertainment at Tulsa in their own series.
"Take notes NASCAR," a fan wrote.
"More highlights than you’ll see in the cup series this year! Certainly way more horsepower!!" a fan wrote
"You, NASCAR, don't know how to put on a show with the quality of Racing Tulsa had. Also note the quality of their media, nothing like the swamp you have," another fan posted.
"NASCAR you need to do more to promote dirt racing and show what talent could possibly be in NASCAR one day," a fan expressed.
"NO resistor plates, no middle of the race cautions or any of the crap NASCAR has! Just all out balls to the wall racing," another fan wrote.
Meanwhile, one particular fan expressed their appreciation for Larson by sharing his race-winning move, which mirrored Ross Chastain's iconic wall ride at Martinsville.
"Straight chills watching this, Kyle Larson pulling a "Ross Chastain" to run down Christopher Bell was unreal. Legendary status for sure. 🗿🏆✨" the fan shared
Kyle Larson and Christopher Bell had qualified for the 2024 playoffs, however their title chase ended at the same time after both the drivers failed to advance to the championship 4.
The Cup Series will return with the Daytona 500 season opener on 16th February, at 2:30 PM Eastern time. Catch the race live on FOX, MRN, and SiriusXM.
“Their misfortune was my good fortune”: Kyle Larson makes his feelings known as he recalls his second Golden Driller win of the day
Kyle Larson emerged victorious for the second time during the finals of the Tulsa Shootout, in the Winged Outlaw division. Following his victory, an elated Larson was interviewed by FloRacing at the SageNet Center.
"I think it would've been a great race had they all not broke or crashed in front of me," Larson said with a smile.
"I just stayed nice and steady at the bottom. And I could tell you, the track was starting to break once we were all at the top four there. And Daison was trying to make some time up, and got a little to excited. Yeah, their misfortune was my good fortune." (0:08-0:47)
Moreover, Larson's son Owen also made his debut at the Tulsa Shootout in the Junior Sprints division. He finished the race in P6 while two-time Cup Series champion Kyle Busch's son Brexton secured his first Golden Driller.
