Tara Allmendinger, AJ Allmendinger's wife, recently shared a post of her husband and son taking silly pictures together. The father-son duo snapped themselves as they were waiting for Tara while she grabbed their 'grub' as the family celebrated Boxing Day.
AJ Allmendinger is a 43-year-old NASCAR driver heading to the Cup Series with Kaulig Racing next year. He got married to Tara Meador in 2019 before welcoming their son, Aero James, on September 7 last year.
Per Instagram, Tara Allmendinger posted cute pictures of AJ and Aero while they were waiting for her inside their Chevrolet truck on Boxing Day.
"Happy Boxing Day, eating leftovers day, or getting takeout day! These two were waiting for me to grab our grub. 😂," Tara wrote.
Boxing Day is a holiday celebrated after Christmas Day, though it is not highly observed in the United States. While the holiday may sound like the sport of boxing, it refers to a tradition where servants would get leftovers and small gifts after celebrating Christmas.
Like Black Friday, Boxing Day offers shoppers huge discounts this holiday season.
As for the Allmendinger family, they have celebrated the holiday by going out and grabbing food, and the recent father-son pictures should help them remember the moment.
The new post also shows Aero James 'graduating' from using a cranial helmet. Aero wore a cranial helmet after his surgery to combat sagittal craniosynostosis. He was spotted wearing the helmet even during the NASCAR season where his father drove the No. 16 Chevrolet to a Championship 4 appearance.
AJ Allmendinger's son gets a "new car" for Christmas
AJ Allmendinger got his son Aero James a "new car" for Christmas. The gift was a white single-seater toy car based on the two-seater BMW Z4 Roadster, which had a note saying it was a special delivery from Santa Claus.
Allmendinger's wife Tara shared on social media the first moments Aero had driving the Beamer.
"Who doesn't want a new car on Christmas 😂," Tara wrote.
While Aero drives a BMW, his father AJ will drive a Chevrolet for the 2025 season in the Cup Series. Allmendinger will pilot the No. 16 Chevrolet Camaro for Kaulig Racing alongside teammate Ty Dillon as the duo marks their return to the Cup Series next year.
The last time Allmendinger competed in the premier series was in 2023 with Kaulig Racing. He notably won and led the most laps in the Bank of America Roval 400 race ahead of William Byron and Kyle Busch.
In the most recent Xfinity Series campaign, the Californian scored one win at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. He also amassed seven top-5 and 18 top-10 finishes.
The 2025 NASCAR Cup Series will commence at Daytona International Speedway for the Daytona 500, a race Allmendinger entered over 10 times in his Cup career. The "Great American Race" will be held on February 16.
