Taylor Swift is all set to take over Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The pop star has recently collaborated with Bell Helmets, Women in Motorsports North America (WIMNA), and IMS (which is owned by Penske Entertainment) ahead of her upcoming concerts in Indianapolis.
As per journalist Adam Stern (via X, formerly Twitter), the announcement brought more engagement from fans than all of the track’s social media messages combined. It even exceeded the racetrack’s announcement in May regarding the delay of this year's Indy 500 due to unfavorable weather conditions.
“IMS' Taylor Swift promotion announcement post last week generated more engagement than almost all of the racetrack’s social media messages this year, even topping its announcement in May that the Indy 500 was being delayed by poor weather” said Stern in his post.
The collaboration is expected to manufacture eleven helmets, representing eleven eras of Taylor Swift’s career. Her famous albums like "Folklore," "1989," and "Reputation” will be covered by these eleven helmets.
Each helmet will also contain information about an influential woman in motorsports. The keepsakes will stay on display from Thursday until Friday before getting auctioned off.
As per The Sports Business Journal, “1.5 million impressions have been generated through the promotion so far, and its social media accounts have gained over 1,000 followers since last week, almost all of whom are Swift fans.”
Indianapolis Motor Speedway will also post a special Taylor Swift-themed display car at the Indiana Convention Center this weekend.
Is Kyle Larson a Taylor Swift fan?
Kyle Larson made his official Indy 500 debut on May 26, 2024, where he finished 18th. In an interview three weeks before his start at the prestigious race, the Elk Grove native was asked if he was a Taylor Swift fan or a "Swiftie," as they say.
The question did not come out of just nowhere. Larson was spotted attending a Taylor Swift concert in Paris with his family. He was even wearing a Taylor Swift T-shirt.
Reflecting on his trip to the heart of France, the 2021 Cup Series champion said (via NBC),
“I had never gone to Europe before and it just lined up nice where we had a smaller window to make it there and it was my daughter’s birthday.”
Larson’s daughter Audrey turned six this year. Turns out, the Hendrick Motorsports driver flew to Paris just because his little girl wanted to watch her favorite singer perform.
“She’s been wanting to go see Taylor Swift, and I’ve been wanting to go to Europe and it worked out.” Larson explained. “And so I kind of crashed that party because originally it was supposed to be like a girls trip. And I wanted to go.”
To answer the question about him being a “Swiftie”, Larson said,
“I don’t feel like I’m a Swiftie at all. I do appreciate her music and how hard she works. But no, I’m not a Swiftie.”
Larson is currently inside the playoff bubble, seven points behind the cut line. Last week at Homestead-Miami Speedway, the Chevy star spun out in an attempt to make a pass with 13 laps to go in the 267-lap race. Nevertheless, the driver now looks forward to winning his seventh race of the season at Martinsville this coming Sunday.
