Team Penske driver Joey Logano had a successful season in 2024, winning his third championship title and receiving his truck driving license. Team Penske shared a lighthearted video on X of their driver fleet suggesting some cool names for Logano after he got his hands on his truck license.
Logano has a long history with trucks and grew up around his father's trucking company. At that time, he drove trucks without a driving license. But in 2024, he joined a driving school and got his license, commonly known as a CDL, on May 24, 2024.
After getting his hands on CDL, Logano's teammates shared a hilarious moment and suggested some cool names for him. His Cup Series teammate Ryan Blaney hinted that the #22 Ford Mustang Darkhorse driver's trucker name should be 'Sliced Diesel.' Continuing further, Team Penske's IndyCar driver Josef Newgarden jokingly suggested people should call him 'Truck Daddy Logano.'
Joey Logano's other Cup Series teammate, Austin Cindric, called him 'Smokey Joey,' and IndyCar driver Scott McLaughlin pointed out Logano's smiling nature, naming him 'Joey the smiling transporter.' Team Penske's IndyCar driver Will Power had some cool names for the three-time Cup Series champion.
Power stated people should call him:
"Joey in the bandit. Joey is the bandit."
Blaney joined the conversation and playfully imitated Lognao with a high-pitched voice and said:
"I could see him on a radio, though, like a CB radio, talking to other truckers. Because he would, he would talk to all of them, How's it going? Like, any traffic?" That's why, like, I think it's hilarious. This sliced diesel here, four by four."
Joey Logano took the playful banter positively and gave his iconic smiling reaction. In another podcast, he highlighted that winning the championship is more important for his teammates than him.
“It affects the bonus”: Joey Logano on why winning the championship title is crucial for his teammates
After clinching his third championship title in the 2024 Cup Series season, Joey Logano was featured in an episode of NASDAQ's The Winning Formula and reflected on what motivates him to win the title. The Team Penske has secured its fifth overall title and third back-to-back title.
The #22 Mustang Darkhorse driver opened up about the special moment he witnessed after taking the trophy home for the third consecutive year for his team, which has an impact on the lives of his teammates.
"When you think about how big our team is. It's not just the 20 people that travel with us per car, but it's also the 400 people that work at Team Penske. It's also the people that work at Ford, which is in the thousands; the people working at Shell, which is in the thousands; our engine shop as well," stated Logano.
"It's so big for everyone, and it affects everybody's gifts under the Christmas tree at the end of the year, right? It affects the bonus," he added.
The NASCAR Cup Series driver also handed out cash bonuses in style, bringing out a duffle bag full of $200K and dumping it out theatrically.
