Tyler Reddick has shared his thoughts on the track layout changes at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval. While some drivers have been critical of the changes, Reddick said that racing on the revamped layout can get interesting.

Reddick is a 28-year-old NASCAR Cup Series driver piloting the No. 45 Toyota Camry XSE full-time at 23XI. He is one of the 12 remaining playoff drivers in the premier series, along with 23XI owner and Joe Gibbs Racing driver Denny Hamlin.

In an interview with Frontstretch, Tyler Reddick was asked about his thoughts on the track layout changes and how it can affect racing. He said:

"I don’t think if they’ll change a whole lot in the beginning but certainly I think when teams, drivers get desperate at the end or so mid to the back of pack, I think that corner can get pretty interesting."

Reddick believes frontrunners can create enough gap to avoid potential crashes on the revamped corners.

"I think for the most car up front, if you do your part, you should be able create enough separation by seven [turn 7] and not have to really worry about many moves," the California native stated.

Perhaps the most significant changes at Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval are to turns 6 and 7. Drivers now go straight from turn 5 to turn 6 instead of taking a right-hander in the old layout. As a result, turn 7 is tighter, which should challenge drivers with their late braking and dive-bombing skills.

Another change NASCAR has made can be found between turns 15 and 17. The corners have been sharpened, which would slow down the cars but should create more overtaking opportunities.

The Bank of America Roval 400 from Charlotte Motor Speedway is the final race of the Round of 12. It is also the last road course race of the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season.

Speaking with the media at last week’s race at Talladega Superspeedway, Tyler Reddick expressed his concerns about his playoff run. The 2024 NASCAR Cup Series regular season champion pointed out that his No. 45 Toyota car lacked performance and good handling.

Reddick acknowledged his playoff run has been tough, saying:

"Definitely concerned. What got us to winning the regular season championship is car performance. We’ve just been lacking performance and a good handling car, so yeah, at this point, it’s definitely a head-scratcher."
"Coming off of the regular season. I felt no emphasis to change what I was doing. I don’t think anyone on this team has, either. We just haven’t been putting together good races, haven’t had speed and haven’t been able to get stage points. It’s been tough."

Tyler Reddick sits 7th in the playoff standings and is +14 to the cut-line. He is trailed by Chase Elliott, who is +13 on the elimination bubble. The drivers on the brink of elimination are Joey Logano, Daniel Suarez, Austin Cindric, and Chase Briscoe.
