Former NASCAR driver Kenny Wallace has recently shared his insights into spotting young racing talent and how some emerging NASCAR drivers could fast-track their careers. Wallace took to X to spoke about NASCAR’s next generation stars, such as Keelan Harvick, Brexton Bush, and Owen Larson, and revealed some valuable techniques to master early to advance a young driver's career.
In his recent “Coffee with Kenny” episode, Kenny Wallace shed light on the topic of NASCAR’s next generation drivers, praising them for doing so well at the early stages of their motorsports careers. Wallace believes developing corner entry skill at an early age of young drivers’ careers is a shortcut to success.
Sharing his insights on spotting a good, young, talented race car driver, here’s what Kenny Wallace said:
“Watch their entry to all the corners. I'm just giving you a shortcut. Keelan Harvick, Brexton Busch, Owen Larson, they get the entry right. Don't chop the corner. Don't get your left front up on that curve and lose your center of the corner speed. Don't get out too far. Just get that entry right and roll that corner speed; get through the middle really fast.
“That's one thing that I see that dad Kevin Harvick taught Keelan; Kyle Bush has taught Brexton, and Kyle Larson has taught Owen. So for all you daddy racers out there, get your boys to enter the corner properly, and that's going to excel their racing career.”
Keelan, Brexton, and Owen have been competing in the junior ranks of sprint car racing. They are making their names at a very young age in motorsports and aiming to follow their father’s footsteps to advance to NASCAR’s highest ranks.
Kenny Wallace praised Kyle Larson’s son on impressive Tulsa Shootout win
Kyle Larson’s Owen, who is 10 years old, put in a commendable performance to win the junior sprint heat race at the Tulsa Shootout on Wednesday (January 1). Despite starting from eighth place, he worked his way to take the lead with two laps to go and then went on to win the heat race.
Praising Owen’s impressive win, here’s what Wallace said:
“I saw Owen Larson, Kyle Larson's son, start eighth. that's way back for a heat race a little eight lap heat race Owen Larson driving for Chad Boat you're going to see a lot of those race cars down there at the Tulsa Shootout Chad Boat fielding these cars and helping all the racers out and Kyle Larson the father decides to put his son Owen Larson in Chad's race cars and Owen goes from dead last to the win.”
