Retired NASCAR driver and current NASCAR on NBC commentator Kyle Petty took to social media to share a "weather report" from his childhood home in Level Cross, North Carolina. The son of seven-time Cup Series champion Richard Petty returned to his old house as it was snowing, which reminded him of his younger days.

Joined by his sister, Sharon, Kyle penned a message via X along with a short clip of the two siblings just outside their grandparents' house. He wrote:

"Weather report from Level Cross!"

In the video, Petty explained that the house directly behind them was their grandparents' house, a place where they grew up together and enjoyed playing in the snow during the winters. The two were reunited at the place where they once enjoyed as little kids, saying:

"Just so you guys know, if you see that house right there, that's where Sharon and I grew up, that's my grandparents' house, and we played and rode sleds all in this front yard when we were little and the road out front. Here we are again, back in our front yard, Level Cross, and it's snowing."

Petty is the grandson of the late Lee Petty, who won 54 career Cup Series races and three Cup Series championships. Lee's son is Richard, who holds the most career Cup Series wins of all-time at 200 and is tied with Jimmie Johnson and the late Dale Earnhardt for the most Cup Series championships with seven.

Kyle, meanwhile, was an eight-time winner in the Cup Series and last won in 1995 at Dover. The North Carolina native finished a best of fifth in the points standings in 1992 and 1993. He retired from NASCAR competition in 2008 and pursued the broadcasting side of the sport. Petty has held numerous broadcasting positions, most recently as an analyst for NASCAR on NBC, a spot he still holds today.

Kyle Petty's son, Adam, was an up-and-coming racer in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Unfortunately, Adam's racing dreams were tragically cut short in May of 2000 when he lost his life in a practice crash at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway at the age of 19.

Kyle Petty's Charity Ride sent out applications for "returning riders"

Every year since 1995, Kyle Petty has helped host the "Kyle Petty Charity Ride," where 250 motorcycle riders travel the country for a week to help raise money for Victory Junction, a camping facility in North Carolina for children with chronic mental illnesses.

Recently, Petty announced via social media that the Charity Ride had sent out applications for those who want to return in 2025. They wrote:

"Applications for our 2025 #KPCharityRide went out to returning riders today! 🙌 Potential new riders will receive applications on Wednesday! Watch and hit “send” on the application with Morgan!"

Since the Charity Ride's beginnings, the event has helped raise over $22 million for Victory Junction.
