Noah Gragson recently discussed his confrontation with Ross Chastain on the pit road. During Sunday's AdventHealth 400 at the Kansas Speedway, Ross Chastain and Noah Gragson first met on the track and later crossed paths outside it.
Throughout the race, Chastain and Gragson exchanged 'pleasantries' in their own cars. Shortly after the two drivers indulged in a game of bumper cars, Gragson brought out the race's 10th caution. Following Denny Hamlin's victory in the race, the two sparred with punches rather than words on the pit road.
After both the drivers were calmed down by their team members and crews, they talked to the media about their altercation. While Chastain appeared calm, Gragson looked rather annoyed. He said:
"The guy just runs into everyone. When you’ve got guys like Chase Elliott saying, ‘Go beat his a*s,’ everyone is sick and tired of him and nobody has the b*lls to go up and get him.”
It turns out that Noah Gragson was not happy about being smacked in the face. After the argument was done, the driver was still in a very bad mood and said that he was still 'sick and tired' of Ross Chastain.
Gragson eventually lost around five laps as a result of his spin and he placed 29th. Chastain came in fifth position at the end of the race. The last time the two collided on the track, Gragson had a poor showing at the GEICO 500 at Talladega.
Ross Chastain explains his side of the fight with Noah Gragson
When Noah Gragson approached Ross Chastain on the pit road at the Kansas Speedway on Sunday, he complained about how Chastain had raced him and grabbed Chastain's jersey.
Gragson, who was furious because Chastain doored him and squeezed his car on the track, was seen approaching Chastain on the pit road in many videos after the race. On tape, Chastain is heard saying that he believed he would clear Gragson. Gragson then reiterates that Chastain struck his car door.
Ross Chastain spoke with FOX about the situation following the incident on the pit road. The driver that gained fame in Martinsville for his 'Hail Melon' maneuver, finished fifth in a race once more, taking the spotlight away from the winner. Following the race, he said:
“A very big man once told me we have a no-push policy here at Trackhouse."
Ross Chastain didn't want Gragson to take things too far and attempted to calm him down and talk things out. That, however, did not occur as Gragson got some pushes in before the Trackhouse policy took effect.
