Joey Logano recently shared his thoughts on the turnaround Ford has made in the NASCAR Cup Series this season. During a media interaction ahead of Watkins Glen, a reporter mentioned to Logano that Ford was nowhere to be seen in the first 12 races of 2024.

But in the last 15 races, there have been eight wins from six drivers of four different Ford organizations, including Joey Logano's Team Penske. Logano was asked about this turnaround, to which the 2x Cup champion said:

"I feel like we’ve executed good races. Some of the tracks may have fallen into some of our hands where some of our strengths may be. Do I think we’re strong at every track or the best at every track? I can’t say that. I think there’s still a lot of work to be done, but that’s probably just who I am in general. I always look at the things we can be better at but I’ll say the teams have done a good job at maximizing what they got and and learning a lot from the beginning of the year," Logano said. [7:10]

He claimed that Ford has done "a good job" of covering up the deficit from the earlier part of the season. Logano added that a lot of different factors come into play in putting things back on track such as momentum, cycle, flow, and so on.

Following this, Logano was asked whether there was any panic because of Ford's situation in the initial part of the season. The #22 driver admitted that panic did set in within the first eight weeks.

"The panic set in. You know, over the off season, you know, new car and all the numbers look great, but then you get on the racetrack and the numbers don’t translate, there’s a lot of different variables on the reasons why that is and learning that, we got a lot of work to do like this isn’t everything it was cracked up to be," Logano described.

Joey Logano is feeling confident about his prospects of winning a third Cup title

Joey Logano started his playoff campaign in the best way possible as he won the opening race of the Round of 16 at Atlanta. This ensured Logano finds a spot in the Round of 12 and for the remaining two races at Watkins Glen and Bristol, he can focus on accumulating points, and helping his teammates.

Ahead of this Sunday's race at the Glen, Joey Logano was asked whether he feels confident about winning his third Cup title after his win at Atlanta.

“We’ve been here before where we’ve not had the best regular season, and then the playoffs start, and you’re like, 'Where did all that come from?' It happens a lot. So I’d say we’ve always felt pretty confident that we can go win the championship on any year no matter how you get into playoffs," he said. [18:00]

Logano mentioned how, in the Next Gen era, the importance of surviving and having a good couple of races goes a long way. He claimed that it doesn’t take much to have a turnaround from mediocre to being a championship contender within weeks.

Because of this, Joey Logano added that thinking he was ever out of the contention is "kind of crazy", despite him not having the most wins or playoff points.
