Noah Gragson recently inked a multi-year deal with Front Row Motorsports (FRM) and is on his way to a fourth team in four years in the Cup Series. In a recent conversation, Gragson had a hilarious response when asked if his team members pronounced his last name correctly.
After the announcement of Stewart-Haas Racing's closure, #10 Gragson became the third driver from the SHR's Ford roster to land a confirmed ride for 2025. The 25-year-old will team up with #38 Todd Gilliland of FRM and be the second driver of the newly formed three-car charter organization.
When Fox Sports' Bob Pockrass inquired about how long it takes for the team members to realize the correct pronunciation of his last name as "Greg-sun" and not "Gran-son". The Las Vegas native had a lighthearted response.
"I don't know. It depends on who you ask. I was at Junior Motorsports for four years and people pronounced it differently over there but I'm to the point where I'm just kinda hands off now. However you wanna say it, there's only one Noah in NASCAR. So I know who they are talking about when they say, at least from Noah." Gragson said.
Gragson was probably thinking about the "Chase fiasco" when he gave the response. At the time, Christoper Bell had unintentionally announced SHR's Chase Briscoe signing to Joe Gibbs Racing pre-maturely. Although Bell just said "Chase" in a media conference, it sparked hilarious chaos in the NASCAR community, linking the comments to Hendrick Motorsports driver Chase Elliott.
Before his Cup Series stint, Gragson competed full-time in the Xfinity Series for the Dale Jr.-led JR Motorsports. In over 132 races for JRM, Gragson garnered 13 wins and a runner-up spot in the 2022 final standings. He also became the 2022 Most Popular Driver in the Xfinity Series
Since his full-time debut in the Cup Series, Gragson was the All-Star fan vote winner for the 2023 and 2024 NASCAR Cup seasons. His popularity among the fans certainly played a role in FRM's decision to hire him.
Front Row Motorsports on signing Noah Gragson
Front Row Motorsports acquired a third charter for the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series earlier this season. With Todd Gilliland behind the wheels of the #38 Ford, Gragson is set to reunite with his former Truck Series teammate. However, the team has yet to announce their third driver.
In a recent conversation with Clair B Lang, Bob Jenkins explained the factors behind signing the young NASCAR Cup driver Gragson:
"He's [Noah Gragson] not quite as conservative as some of the other drivers we've had in the past...Obviously he's one of the most popular drivers out there in only two years. And so I think he's very relatable to fans and they respond to him.
"I've watched him go to the garage, he never walks past a fan who wants an autograph. So, he just so appreciates being a part of NASCAR and loves this opportunity and I feel the same way. So, I think in that regard we're equal," Jenkins added.
As NASCAR heads towards the Pocono Raceway schedule, Gragson sits on 353 points. He has one top-five and six top-ten finishes after 20 starts in the 2024 Cup Series season.
