After having a shattered comeback run on the Nashville Superspeedway, Clint Bowyer has sworn to return to NASCAR. The former Cup Series star returned to the racing scene for the first time since his retirement after the 2020 season.

The 1.330-mile tri-oval asphalt marked the 13th Truck Series debacle on the calendar and multiple cautions reset the field, robbing the only frontrunner, Christain Eckes. The McAnally-Hilgemann Racing driver started his 150-lap dash from third place but took charge of the pack on the opening lap. From that point onwards, the #19 Chevrolet driver led every lap to come home with his third Truck Series win this season.

Former NASCAR driver and Fox Sports NASCAR broadcaster Clint Bowyer returned to the field after a three-year hiatus. The 3x Truck race winner fielded the #7 Chevy for Spire Motorsports, with Brian Pattie as his crew chief.

Pattie and Bowyer share a victorious past as the former worked as a crew chief for the latter at Michael Waltrip Racing from 2012 to 2015. The duo claimed 3 Cup Series wins and Clint Bowyer's career-best finish of P2 in 2012.

Yet, the part-time Truck Series driver couldn't emulate his dominant past on Music City's asphalt. Though Bowyer qualified 11th and finished ninth in the first stage, the second stage carried disappointment. On Lap 60, while the field was stacked up due to a restart, the Spire Motorsports driver wrecked into Chase Purdy and finished the second stage in 24th place.

Clint Bowyer could climb only seven places in the final stage and ended his maiden run this season at 17th place. Dismayed by his outing, the veteran driver vowed to return for a better result.

"We fought loose in the whole time from the word go, but I know from a lot of years of experience that’s hard to overcome," Bowyer said via FOX NASCAR on X.
"I don’t know what happened on the restart, they all checked up in front of me and I crashed mate. But I will be back. I promise you there’s no way in hell I’m ending on that note," the 10x Cup Series race winner added (0:35).

"I'm actually the only one that's won this season" Clint Bowyer's son takes a brutal jibe at his father's winless 2024 season

While Clint Bowyer geared up for his first race on the part-time schedule, former NASCAR driver and current team owner Michael Waltrip had a pre-race talk with the former's son, Cash.

The 9-year-old has a racing pedigree and has already carved a niche in the A Features racing series. In 2020, when Cash was 7 years old, he bagged his first go-kart victory. When Waltrip asked Cash about his racing career, the young guy didn't hold back, publicly taunting his father.

"Yeah, I'm having fun. I'm actually the only one that's won this season so far, competing with this guy [Clint]," Cash said via FOX: NASCAR on X, creating a hilarious atmosphere with his jibe.

Clint Bowyer's son raked his first win this season on April 30 during the A Feature race at the Milbridge Speedway. Moreover, the 9-year-old has bagged three consecutive top-5 finishes in his three Features stints so far.
