NASCAR driver Zane Smith's wife, McCall Smith, recently expressed her pride and support for her husband following his performance at Bristol Motor Speedway. Zane currently drives the number 71 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for Spire Motorsports.
Zane and McCall Smith, who have been together since their teenage years, got married earlier this year. McCall, a former competitive dancer, is quite active on social media, where she has garnered approximately 12,000 followers.
On September 21, McCall expressed her admiration for Smith by resharing one of his posts and complimenting his dimples.
"The dimples," McCall wrote.
Zane was last in the standings ahead of the postseason. Following his 16th-place finish in Saturday night's Bass Pro Shops Night Race, he has extended his lead over the last-place driver in the standings to 20 points. His recent form has been impressive, with five finishes of 17th or better in his last seven races.
After the race, McCall also shared pictures of herself with Zane, captioning the post "Proud wifey." She wore an off-while full-sleeved crop top with wide leg jeans to the race.
"Probably one of the toughest years" - Zane Smith on his rookie season in the NASCAR Cup Series
Zane Smith has experienced a challenging rookie season in the NASCAR Cup Series. Despite securing a second-place finish at Nashville Superspeedway, his overall average position remains around 20th.
His recent performances, including a 21st-place finish at Atlanta Motor Speedway and a fifth-place finish at Watkins Glen International, have not been enough to elevate his standing. As a result, he is currently ranked as the third-slowest driver in the NASCAR Cup Series.
"I’ve been racing with a chip on my shoulder since Nashville...It’s been an absolutely brutal couple of months but I’m fighting through it; nothing really new in my career. I’m not a guy to want anyone to feel sorry for me, by any means. It’s just been tough, but I’ll never give up, and it’s hard to beat someone that never gives up," the 25-year-old said while discussing his performances. (via Racer.com)
Smith, who is currently under contract with Trackhouse Racing, was loaned to Spire Motorsports. He has completed 90.6% of the laps this season and hopes to race full-time next year, starting with the Daytona 500.
"I believe tough times make tough people, and I’ve lived my life like that. This is probably one of the toughest years and experience and life lessons I’ve ever been through. So, I’m not taking that lightly and using it to fuel me," he added.
Before joining the Cup Series, the youngster had great success in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. He won the championship in 2022 after three years with Front Row Racing, accumulating ten race wins and 29 podium finishes. His success was evident even before the championship season, as he secured second place in the standings for two consecutive years.
