Dale Earnhardt Jr. recently spoke about Kyle Busch's comments on his future. The RCR driver claimed in Iowa that if Hendrick Motorsports welcomed him, he would return, even though he was focused on the current program with the #8 car.

This led to a discussion on the latest episode of the Dale Jr. Download podcast, where the idea of Busch being "content" with his current situation was brought up. Speaking about that, Dale Earnhardt Jr. agreed that Busch wasn't happy.

But he also explained why it was purely based on his on-track results.

"I don’t think he’s happy how he’s performing but I don’t think the guy is trying to torpedo his relationship. I don’t think he’s trying go get himself fired. But the media is going to pick up and they’re already starting to pick up.
"And these things are not the things that Kyle Busch loves to be in the middle of. So every week they’re probably going to try and paint him in the media and he is going to have a hard time keeping his comments clean so that there’s no collateral damage," Earnhardt Jr. explained. [58:17]

As the idea of Joey Logano, another 2x NASCAR Cup champion being winless this season along with Kyle Busch was raised, Dale Jr. claimed it's not the same.

"I don’t hear that many people banging the drum, ‘What’s going on Joey?’ They’re going for Kyle because they know Kyle is short-tempered, short fuse, easily get a bit annoyed in those moments in the media center," he said.

With that said, Dale Earnhardt Jr. wished that Kyle Busch can see through all of that. He also hoped that this situation, while being a compelling story for the media, wouldn't turn into "a real drama" where real problems start building up between Busch and RCR.

The likelihood of that happening as per Dale Jr. was non-existent. But he added that the media "can make it feel that way."

Kevin Harvick wasn't happy with Kyle Busch's comments regarding his future

Former NASCAR driver Kevin Harvick reacted to Busch's comments on returning to HMS if he was welcomed. Harvick claimed a message like that "just opens the Pandora's box" for everyone to critique, criticize, and speculate what it could really mean.

The former #4 driver said he can understand Busch thinking that way. But Harvick couldn't wrap his head around Busch saying it in front of the media, "unless you were not happy with the deal that you have."

Further, opening the door to a conversation involving JGR or HMS while he is at RCR, Harvick believed Kyle Busch has delivered "a kick in the teeth" to his crew members.

But just like Dale Earnhardt Jr. said, Kevin Harvick also claimed that he doesn't see a scenario where Busch could go back to HMS or JGR.
