One of the drivers in the grassroots NASCAR scene making a big splash is Connor Zilisch. The IMSA driver recently made his foray into the world of stock car racing with his part-time appearances in the Xfinity and Truck Series alongside an ARCA Menards Series driver as well.
Zilisch has made inroads into the vastly different driving style of stock cars and has certainly mastered one of the sport's stepping stones to the three nationwide series. Connor Zilisch managed to win his first-ever ARCA Menards Series race on Friday this week after triumphing at the General Tire 150 in Dover.
While Zilisch was seen in victory lane after his win, NASCAR officials ran into an unexpected problem as they needed to get the beer away given he was underage.
With the celebration not accounting for Zilisch being underage and Victory Lane being full of Busch Beer, a sponsor during the event, officials were seen clearing them out in a hurry. Fans hilariously reacted to the same with some of the best ones as follows:
"They ran in there like a shopping spree, missed the best part of it"
"Yeah idk what they were thinking for an Arca race lmao," a fan said.
"Just grab the coolers?!" adviced one fan
"Atleast let him keep the cases," joked another
"Who did they expect to win," chimed in one fan
""Hey, the Trackhouse driver won, get the Busch set up for their sponsorshi- Wait,"" added another
Connor Zilisch sums up NASCAR ARCA Menards Series victory at Dover Motor Speedway
Elaborating on his first-ever NASCAR ARCA Menards Series victory after dipping his feet into stock car racing, a genre of motorsports vastly different from IMSA sports cars, Connor Zilisch summed up his experience during the General Tire 150 at Dover Motor Speedway.
The 17-year-old touched on how he felt behind the wheel during the event on Friday this week and told Motorsports Today in a post-race press conference:
"I feel like this place is, it's the fastest I've been on an oval and that was something to get used to. There were a lot of firsts when I came here in practice, in qualifying and the first 50 to 70 laps of the race were pretty intimidating."
Connor Zilisch is currently ranked 26th in the Drivers' Championship at this season's ARCA Menards Series, with 47 points to his name so far.
