In the past few weeks, there has been speculation over when NASCAR will release the schedule for the 2025 season. According to journalist Jordan Bianchi, the reason it hasn't been released yet and is facing delays is down to one particular factor.
During a recent appearance on Dirty Mo Media, Bianchi addressed the subject of next season's schedule of NASCAR. He revealed that the reason the schedule hasn't been put out yet is discussions over the rumored international fixtures.
"The holdup right now is getting the international date. NASCAR is in continued discussions with Mexico City, in Montreal, they want to have an international race on the schedule next year. They're very adamant about this, this is their stated goal," Bianchi said. [10:30]
He claimed that the teams also want to have an international race on the schedule, and NASCAR is working "really, really hard" to make it happen.
"Everyone involved in this is encouraged, they're optimistic, they're hopeful, that this is going to be the case, but here we are in August, it still hasn't happened yet. They want to get that on the schedule. And until that piece is finalized, the schedule is not going to be coming out," he added.
It's worth mentioning that a few weeks ago, journalist Bob Pockrass shared his take on when the schedule will be out.
Pockrass wrote on X (formerly Twitter) that NASCAR could release the schedule in August, but he did not confirm one particular part of the month as he claimed "it changes regularly."
Dale Earnhardt Jr. frustrated with NASCAR pursuing international venues in place of traditional tracks
Earlier this year, while speaking on his podcast, Dale Earnhardt Jr. shared his frustrations with NASCAR swapping traditional venues for international dates.
"There’s nothing wrong with Richmond you know and we’re going to go... we’re going to leave Richmond to go race in Mexico. We’re going to leave all these traditional ovals to go race a road course," Junior said.
Junior said that it is getting harder for him to be happy about NASCAR putting in newer tracks and venues in place of long-standing racetracks and races. He recalled that after the race at Richmond earlier this year, which as per him was "a really tough race", he had predicted that NASCAR would take out that fixture on the schedule for Mexico.
And as per the recent reports and speculation, that seems to be the way NASCAR is heading.
So with that said, it'll be interesting to see how fans react when the schedule is eventually released and perhaps races like Richmond are taken out for races in newer markets like Mexico.
