The NASCAR fanbase has taken a swipe at Joe Gibbs after learning about his thoughts on dirt racing for Chase Briscoe and Christopher Bell. The JGR owner seemingly hasn't given a free hand to its drivers eyeing to battle in events other than NASCAR races.

Recently, the #19 Toyota driver Martin Truex Jr. announced retiring from full-time Cup Series racing from 2025 onwards. As a result, drivers including Chase Briscoe, Noah Gragson, Josh Berry, and Austin Cindric, among many others were speculated to join the JGR stable.

During a presser at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Bell accidentally revealed Chase as his future teammate, and a few days later, the North Carolina-based outfit inked a multiyear deal with the Stewart-Haas Racing driver.

While the fanbase was abuzz with Chase Briscoe's shift to Joe Gibbs' garage, the team owner's take on his drivers racing on dirt apparently didn't sit well with the fans.

"What we've developed here, if someone wants to run a race, they come to us ... and it has a lot to do with the car and the race track and we'll make a decision. There will be times, but definitely, we'll use common sense," Gibbs said via Matt Weaver on X.

On the contrary, Hendrick Motorsports allows its drivers- Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott, William Byron, and Alex Bowman to race at any track they desire with no such thing as taking approval from the team owner.

With that notion, one fan jibed at Joe Gibbs and suggested learning from Rick Hendrick instead.

"They should take notes from Hendrick and just let the guys run what they want. Larson consistently runs dirt, Byron consistently runs LM [Late Model] races, Bowman did until his injury, Chase has ran dirt and LMs," the fan wrote.
"Don't understand this at all by @JoeGibbsRacing. Let them race whenever wherever. That's what wheelman do. Trying to perfect and improve their race craft by running other forms of racing should not be a negative," another fan added.
"All I can say is it's a shame. I understand JGR wants to protect their investment, but as good as @CBellRacing is, he could be BETTER if he could get reps in other vehicles. I've seen him best Larson in equal equipment A LOT (Turkey Night, Chili Bowl). @Walkapedia_ might agree," one fan commented.
"JGR needs to let these drivers race, Dirt, Pavement, that how they stay sharp! Common Sense to me is not an answer!" another fan concurred.

This fan took a hilarious dig and wondered if Briscoe would sell the sprint cars fielded by Chase Briscoe Racing.

"Briscoe might as well put that sprint car on Facebook marketplace," the fan wrote.
"With the guaranteed waiver for injuries you would think they would just let them race. Racing more makes these guys better," another fan opined outlining a guaranteed waiver for the playoffs if an injury hinders the eligibility criteria.

"We think he can win"- Joe Gibbs on signing Chase Briscoe as the replacement driver for the #19 seat

Chase Briscoe started his full-time Cup Series racing career in 2021, replacing Clint Bowyer in the #14 Ford for SHR. Since his entry at the Cup level, the Indiana native has collected a solitary win from the 2022 Phoenix race, 12 top-5s, and 27 top-10s.

Moreover, since stepping into NASCAR, Briscoe has bagged 11 wins in the Xfinity Series and two in the Truck Series. During his sophomore Cup season, the future JGR driver paved his way into the Round of 8.

Joe Gibbs Racing is among NASCAR's elite teams and signing with them requires "character" and proficiency in race craft. Thus, the drivers are expected to churn dominant outcomes on the asphalt if they field Joe Gibbs' high-octane rides.

The team owner spoke on Chase Briscoe's capability to bag wins, saying.

“The most important thing we (have) is our people and the people that you have on your team. And so for us really here, it always starts with character. You’re always looking at what kind of a person you’re getting. But also, we have to win. So we came down to the end. We think Chase can win. And so that’s where we are and it’s a thrill for us to have him coming on board." (via NASCAR)

The 2025 season will see Chase Briscoe taming the #19 Toyota while Martin Truex Jr. will be witnessed serving other roles in the garage.
