NASCAR driver Brad Keselowski recently reflected on the Xfinity 500 playoff race at Martinsville Speedway. Keselowski specifically commented on his battle with drivers running Chevrolets, who he believes cost him the win.
Former Cup Series champion Brad Keselowski pilots the #6 Ford for RFK Racing, a team he co-owns with Jack Roush. In his Cup Series career, the #6 driver has secured 39 trips to victory lane. Moreover, Keselowski is also a former Xfinity Series champion (2010), solidifying his status as a top athlete in the sport.
Chevrolet is the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) for Hendrick Motorsports (HMS), Trackhouse, and Richard Childress Racing. In the final stage, Keselowski was allegedly surrounded by RCR's Austin Dillon and Trakchouse's Ross Chastain to make it difficult for the #6 Ford of Keselowski to move up the field. Moreover, the two Chevrolet-powered drivers boxing Keselowski reportedly did not attempt to pass the #24 Chevy of William Byron, as the HMS driver seemingly had the best chance to bring a Chevy into the Championship 4.
Reflecting on this incident, Brad Keselowski believes that manufacturers allegedly manipulated the outcome of the race with playoff and non-playoff drivers hindering his chances of winning. He shared a post by @AR_analytics that read (via X, formerly Twitter)
"This is a disaster. The key partner system is really culprit of all it. How do we get it back to everyone racing for themselves?"
Sharing this, the former Cup Series champion wrote:
"This should be the last straw on the camel’s back for the playoffs."
Keselowski, who has competed at Martinsville 30 times in his career and finished in the top five on 12 occasions, started the 2024 Xfinity 500 from P18. In a restart during stage 2, the #6 Ford took the lead from Team Penske's Ryan Blaney and defended his spot for nearly 100 laps. However, the race ended with Brad Keselowski crossing the start-finish line in P9.
Team Penske's #12 driver and reigning Cup Series champion Ryan Blaney secured a win in the Round of 8 finale, confirming his spot in the championship 4. HMS driver William Byron was the last driver to round off the final four. The field for Phoenix Raceway is set. The Championship race is scheduled for November 10 at 3:00 PM ET.
Brad Keselowski potentially inches closer to third charter deal with RWR amid Ryan Preece testing RFK car
Recently, SHR driver Ryan Preece tested RFK's #60 Ford at Homestead, which has led the NASCAR community to believe that Brad Keselowski's RFK Racing might be acquiring a third charter for the upcoming season.
Moreover, NASCAR insider and Fox Sports journalist Bob Pockrass is of the notion that Brad Keselowski's team will reportedly strike a deal with Rick Ware Racing to acquire another charter for the upcoming season (RWR). Responding to a fan's query, he wrote on X:
Brad said last week he still didn't have anything to say yet about a third car. Preece testing an RFK car yesterday at the wet weather test at Homestead (just an early exploratory test to see how the tires react) is another sign that will happen. Possible charter through RWR(Rick Ware Racing).
Currently, RFK Racing fields two entries, the #6 Ford driven by Keselowski and the #17 Ford piloted by Chris Buescher, who played spoiler in the playoff race at Watkins Glen International.
