Dale Earnhardt Jr. recently elaborated on his comments about his yearly Xfinity Series runs. During a recent interview with Fox Sports, Earnhardt Jr. had claimed that this year's Bristol race could be his last, something he ponders every year.

On the latest episode of the Dale Jr. Download, Dale Earnhardt Jr. further opened up on this subject. The NASCAR Hall of Famer also mentioned where he sees himself racing until he hits a certain age where he decides to quit racing altogether fully.

"I honestly feel like that this might be the last Xfinity race. And you just never know. There's no reason for me to say that and there may be an opportunity that comes up and you're like, 'Yeah! I wanna do that.' So you get back in. So I don't want to make too much of it. But I'm getting toward the finish of all of it," Junior said.

Speaking about his late model stock car, Dale Earnhardt Jr. claimed he loves doing that and the races are "really fun."

He continued, "They're hard, and it's a bit of a commitment to go out there every weekend. I don't know how those guys do it with the traveling and everything that's involved. You have to want to do that. But I'm enjoying my late model stock cars, so I'll probably keep doing that for quite some time. I just don't know how long. I want to be able to feel like I can win and I'll be 50 in October, maybe 5 more years? Maybe 10?"

Having said that, Earnhardt Jr.'s co-host pointed to the #88 driver leading laps in last year's Bristol race.

But Earnhardt emphasized that there's more to the yearly appearance than just showing up to the racetrack. He mentioned that there is simulator work, and there are sponsor photoshoots.

"Just to do one race there's a lot, lot of commitments throughout the year that have to be settled," he added.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. wants to run in the late models for a long time

Speaking about his desire to run for a "really long time" in the late model stock cars, Dale Earnhardt Jr. claimed he has a lot of racing left in him for that series.

The former Hendrick Motorsports driver told Fox Sports that he imagines when he's around 60 he would start considering that he's "too old" to run in the late models. So because of that, Earnhardt Jr. believes he has "about a 10-year runway" to do everything he wants to do with his late model.

As for his Xfinity runs, considering he has mentioned it not once but twice in a short period of time, it could be possible that Dale Earnhardt Jr. would run his last yearly race this year.

But it's worth mentioning that even in his yearly runs in the second tier of NASCAR, Dale Jr. has shown his class and talent.

In the seven Xfinity races he has run since 2018, Junior has finished inside the top 5 four times.
