"This parasite will not leave me alone" - NASCAR driver Frankie Muniz discusses relentless health battle

Hollywood actor turned NASCAR driver Frankie Muniz recently shared an update on his health after falling ill during a trip to Mexico. Muniz revealed he has been suffering from a parasitic infection, which has wrecked him "physically and mentally."

After making his NASCAR Truck Series debut in Nashville, Frankie Muniz went on a family trip to Cancun, Mexico. Despite enjoying the trip, his wife Paige Muniz shared on Instagram that Frankie caught hay fever during the vacation, with fellow travelers also falling sick.

On Thursday, July 25, Frankie Muniz shared a health update on X (formerly Twitter), stating that he has been suffering from a parasitic infection for the past 22 days. He noted that his health had not improved since returning from the trip, despite multiple visits to the ER and completing his third prescription.

"This parasite will not leave me alone. Day 22 of feeling absolutely awful. 2 emergency room visits, two doctors appointments, countless IVs. Third prescription almost completed. Wrecked physically and mentally. So badly want to get back to training etc," Muniz wrote on X.

Prior to his recent update, Muniz shared a couple of weeks ago that his health had deteriorated since returning from the trip. He hinted that he might not go to Mexico again after his recent experience there. Muniz wrote on X, dated July 12:

"I've been insanely sick since my flight home from Mexico 8 days ago. Somehow I'm getting worse. May have been my last trip to Mexico after this misery."

After returning from their trip to Mexico, Paige Muniz shared on Instagram that her husband, Frankie, was "sick as a horse". She also mentioned that almost everyone who traveled with them on the trip got sick.


Exploring Frankie Muniz's NASCAR starts this season

The Malcolm in the Middle star made his full-time ARCA Menards debut last season, finishing fourth in the season-end standings. This season, he has made select starts in the Xfinity and the Truck Series, with Ford-affiliated teams.

Frankie Muniz made his Xfinity debut at the season opener in Daytona, driving the #35 Ford Mustang for Joey Gase Motorsports. His debut outing ended with a DNF, classified 36th. His second start at Phoenix Raceway also resulted in a similar outcome, and he failed to qualify for the road course race at Portland.

Muniz made his Truck Series debut with Reaume Brothers Racing, driving the #22 Ford F-150 at Nashville Superspeedway. He ended 31st but expressed that he had a blast behind the wheel of the #22 Ford. As a part of a four-race deal with the organization, he is slated to return at Bristol Motor Speedway (September 19), the following week at Kansas Speedway, and the ARCA race at Michigan.

Frankie Muniz also returned to the ARCA series this year, driving the #30 Rette Jones Racing Ford to a ninth-place finish at Talladega, earlier this season.
