NASCAR fans have expressed their disappointment over Brett Griffin leaving the Dale Earnhardt Jr.-produced "Door Bumper Clear" podcast. He had been part of the show since its first episode in 2016 but recently announced on social media that he will not be returning to the show for the 2025 season.
Griffin has been part of the racing world for the past two decades, having worked as a spotter in NASCAR with drivers like Clint Bowyer, Jeff Burton, and Elliott Sadler. His impressive portfolio in racing also includes his work as the host of "Door Bumper Clear," a podcast started in 2016 under Dirty Mo Media, the production house run by former NASCAR driver Dale Jr.
Griffin announced this week on X (formerly Twitter) that he will not return with the podcast in the upcoming season after hosting over 350 episodes. He wrote,
"Thank you, listeners. I’ve had a blast on this journey and my goal was simple - share the knowledge and experiences I’ve had during my career. Let’s laugh and learn as we go and we did just that. Ep 355 was my last."
Meanwhile, Dirty Mo Media President Mike Davis shared a teaser on social media, hinting towards a potential replacement:
However, this announcement did not sit well with some fans. One fan wrote,
"And there goes my favorite show. It is never good when you boot the originals out Mr. Davis. All down hill from here sadly. Gonna miss the OG cast together. Time to go listen to Harvick I guess."
Some others also expressed their disapointment.
"You fired the guy who started the show, and now you’re bragging about his replacement? What world do you live in?" Wrote another fan.
"I’m wondering why Brett isn’t returning @SpotterBrett," a fan's comment read.
"Why did Brett leave??? Give us the truth," a fan wrote.
At the same time, however, some users seemed to look at it as a positive move.
"I’m so glad to see that d****e b*g gone. Cry baby ass Brett," a fan commented.
Dale Earnhardt Jr's hilarious word of advice on Dale Jr. Download to champions Justin Allgaier and Joey Logano
Justin Allgaier won his first Xfinity Series championship this year, while Joey Logano clinched his third Cup Series championship. Both drivers were phenomenal during the final races of the season as they added the respective trophies to their resumes.
Speaking during his appearance on the latest episode of the Dale Jr. Download podcast, Allgaier said that he hadn't responded to the congratulatory texts that people sent him. In response, Dale Jr. shared some advice. He said Allgaier should make one generic reply and send it out.
Earnhardt said,
"SO this is how you do it. You text the first person back and say, 'thanks a lot, buddy. It was incredible.' Write something really eloquent, and then you copy and paste that 600 times[...]Only thing I would say is, don't call your mom 'buddy.'"
Dale Earnhardt Jr. also shared the same advice with Cup Series champion Joey Logano.
