Christmas is coming, meaning back-to-back Christmas movies will be on TV all month. As such, NASCAR driver Todd Gilliland’s wife, Marissa, was curled up under a blanket, watching a movie but her husband was not home at the time.
Marissa clicked a picture of her cozy setting and posted it on her Instagram stories, expressing how sorry she felt for Gilliland that he wasn’t there with her. She wrote:
“The best time of the year. Christmas movies all month long. Sorry Todd.”
2024 marked Gilliland’s third full season in the Cup Series, driving the No. 38 Front Row Motorsports Mustang. He finished the season 22nd in points with four top-10 finishes. Per reports, he has been tabbed to pilot the No. 34 for FRM in 2025.
Previously, Gilliland drove the No. 38 machine for the North Carolina-based outfit in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Gilliland’s first win in the series came at Martinsville Speedway with Kyle Busch Motorsports.
Gilliland is also a two-time K&N Pro Series West champion, having won back-to-back titles in 2016 and 2017. In 2017, he ran full-time schedules in the ARCA Menards Series West as well as the ARCA Menards Series East, picking six and four wins, respectively. However, the Sherrills Ford native has yet to win a race at the Cup level.
Todd Gilliland's wife Marissa reflects on Season 3 of her husband’s Cup Series career
Todd Gilliland has officially completed his third year in the Cup Series, that too with a leading organization like Front Row Motorsports, previously home to the 2021 Daytona 500 winner, Michael McDowell. At just 24, that is an achievement in itself on Gilliland’s part.
Gilliland’s best finish last season came at the 30th running of the iconic Brickyard 400, a race that Hendrick Motorsport icon Kyle Larson won leading only seven laps. Gilliland delivered a P6 finish in the race.
Marissa lauded Gilliland and the No. 38 team’s efforts that kept them going throughout the season. With the No. 38 as the background, she posted a picture of herself alongside her husband and captioned it,
“Season 3 in the books❤️ Time sure is flying. Todd and the entire 38 team have lots to be proud of this year!! So thankful for everyone who makes it all happen for my Hubby🫶🏻 it’s now time to enjoy being home for a little!”
Todd Gilliland will hit the tracks again on February 2. The season-opening clash, scheduled for the same day, will be hosted at the iconic Bowman Gray stadium. This is going to be the first time since 1971 that the Cup Series will make a trip to the historic stadium also known as “The Madhouse."
