NASCAR's upcoming rookie Toni Breidinger has responded to the 'naysayers' ahead of her full-time Truck Series debut with Tricon Garage. She has run a part-time schedule for the team since 2023, contesting in four races, one during this past season.
Breidinger is among the handful of females in motorsports. As the competition is fiercer than ever, NASCAR insider Jenna Fryer expressed that since she is a female, the 'naysayers' would expect faster success to accept her in the sport. She added that Breidinger would be judged 'right away' as she will step into her rookie season.
Breidinger, though, is focused on her game. The 25-year-old said that despite a scarcity of practice sessions, she has been evaluating and strategizing for the season based on her performance at different tracks and is confident of a strong portrayal.
"I just have to be ready to adapt and just get after it. I feel like I tend to overthink to prepare and plan and go with the flow and just be super present in what I'm doing and get after it and driver," Breidinger said (0:58).
The Californian then outlined how she deals with critiques and said she would abstain from reading negative comments.
"I'm pretty good with keeping a calm, head on my shoulder and everything. But I think for me not reading the negative comments on race day, even though I live social media and I'm always on my phone on race day and kind of like turn it over to someone else let them handle is so I can just really focus." Toni Breidinger's full-time calendar will be primarily sponsored by Celsius, Sunoco, and Raising Cane's.
Toni Breidinger made her feelings known about achieving her "dream" moment
Breidinger has been in NASCAR for two years but much of her motor racing experience has come from the ARCA Menards Series. She has run 65 races through five seasons and claimed her best rank of P4 this season while fielding the #25 Toyota for Venturini Motorsports.
Since her ARCA racing days, Toni Breidinger has been linked to Toyota which proved beneficial in her NASCAR journey with Tricon Garage. Moreover, she is the first Arab-American female to compete in a NASCAR event for which she was honored with the Developmental Series Driver Award.
That being said, during the silly season, the team announced they had promoted the aspiring female racer to a full-time endeavor.
“Racing full-time with Tricon is a dream for me. It’s been a 15-year process to get here, but I’m so excited for this moment and ready to capitalize on it,” Breidinger said via NASCAR.
Toni Breidinger has been racing since she was nine when she began visiting a go-karting facility with her sister Annie in 2009.
