Tony Stewart's wife, Leah Pruett, has shared her thoughts on participating in the Havasu Festival swimming competition. She found it amusing that participants swam against each other to press a button as the reward for their hard work.

Stewart and Pruett both race in the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series. Stewart is also a three-time winner of the NASCAR Cup Series championship. The couple, who recently welcomed their first child, paid a family visit to the Havasu Festival in Arizona.

Taking to Instagram, Leah Pruett shared her take on the festival, saying:

"Brrr... Wild to watch people swim across the channel in the 50ish degree water to race for the prize of pressing the button to light up the English Village under the London Bridge!"

This year marks the 29th annual Hasavu Festival of Lights in Arizona, held at the London Bridge resort. 500,000 lights are illuminated to celebrate the holiday season, with the Bridgewater Channel swimming competition winner turning on the lights.

The couple's son, Dominic, was born during the final race weekend of the NHRA season. Tony Stewart participated in the qualifying session before flying to welcome his newborn with Leah Pruett. He flew back to the Pomona Dragstrip to enter the race.

The NHRA season finale coincided with Stewart's departure from NASCAR as the Stewart-Haas Racing team was discontinued. It ended the 53-year-old's three-decade run in the stock car racing league as a driver and owner.

The festival will run until January 5 next year.

Tony Stewart shares his thoughts on becoming a parent

Ahead of the NHRA season finale, Tony Stewart opened up about becoming a parent. Stewart said the race weekend at Pomona Dragstrip was very memorable, and added that he had barely slept as he was with his wife Leah Pruett as she gave birth to their son.

Speaking with veteran NASCAR reporter Bob Pockrass, the 49-time Cup race winner said:

"Everything that happened overnight, it's one of the coolest days of my life, obviously" [1:02]

Stewart also said he was "super proud" of his wife for taking time off from racing to focus on family planning. He said,

"My wife is unbelievable. She's a way tougher woman than I will ever be as a man. To do what she did and to make the decision a year ago to step out of the car and take herself away from what she loves so much to start a family and to go through this journey that's taken a whole year and to see it come to fruition today and to see her go through this process, super proud of her as my wife, my partner, and as a woman in general."

While Tony Stewart didn't make it past the semifinals of the Drag Racing Series after losing to Doug Kalitta, he won the Rookie of the Year award. He finished ninth in the Top Fuel points standings.
