Leah Pruett was recently spotted donning an all-black outfit for the NHRA Fall Nationals championship dinner. She is married to former NASCAR driver Tony Stewart and the couple is expecting a baby soon.
An NHRA Top Fuel dragster, Pruett, last competed in the 2023 season for Tony Stewart Racing before stepping down to start a family with the three-time NASCAR champion. Moreover, she was the 2019 NHRA SAMTech Factory Stock Showdown champion and has accumulated 11 wins in her Top Fuel category.
In a recent Instagram post, Pruett made a fashion statement for a dinner event at Texas Motorplex. She wore a black body-con dress and showed off her baby bump in the pictures she uploaded on her social media.
"Fun night at the @texasmotorplex Champion’s Dinner with friends 🌵" Pruett captioned on Instagram.
Currently, the soon-to-be-defunct Stewart-Haas Racing owner has shifted his focus to drag racing and has taken over the reins of the TSR entry in the Top Fuel category of the NHRA nationals.
The 53-year-old Stewart has added another feather to his hat as he recently won the divisional championship. He won the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series North Central Division in St. Louis.
In a post-race conversation, Stewart reflected on his recent racing accomplishment and said (via Autoweek):
"It’s a nice redemption weekend for us. We struggled here last weekend in the Top Fuel car. To be able to come here and win the race and have low ET of the event in the finals and win the division championship is just really cool. For everything we’ve done in motorsports, to be able to add this to our resume' is really special."
"I wanted to be a part of this mechanical ballet,": Tony Stewart's wife on what made her fall in love with racing
During a conversation, the semi-retired drag racer Leah Pruett recalled how her passion for racing began. The NHRA driver revealed that her interest in racing started with her father, a land speed racer.
Moreover, she claimed that they had an automotive repair shop which helped her to understand cars. She then added:
"By the time I was 12, I was at a national event just like this, watching the big show, funny cars and dragsters ripping 300 miles an hour. The crew's completely tearing down the engine, the blowers, the clutch. At that age, I didn't know what these things were but I knew I wanted to be a part of this mechanical ballet. So I really focused all of my education, my career, my opportunities toward getting myself in a racecar," Pruett said
Racing professionally for eight years and 27 years in total, Pruett revealed that this 2024 season was the first time she took a break from racing and started a family with Stewart.
