As Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR) is closing after the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season, Chase Briscoe recently opened up about seeing the change in support from their manufacturer, Ford. Currently, Ford manufactures cars for various Cup teams like Team Penske, RFK Racing, Wood Brothers Racing, and so on.
Briscoe has not provided specific information but confirmed that “some things have happened for sure." Briscoe stated that SHR is managing things independently, but he still believes the championship-winning organization has the necessary tools and capabilities to win races in the remaining 10 races this season.
Speaking to FOX Sports’s Bob Pockrass on Wednesday at Playoffs Media Day, Chase Briscoe reflected on the change in Ford support amid SHR closing down and said:
“There's been some things that have happened for sure. We're still able to win races. It might be a little tougher to do. We're trying to piece together some things that before would probably have been a little bit easier to piece together. We're kind of doing that on our own now.”
“We still obviously feel like we can go out and win races and have the tools we need to do that. It's just a little bit harder sometimes to do that compared to some of the other teams. I think we've proved that we still have enough resources and things to get it done.”
SHR, the team co-owned by Tony Stewart and Gene Haas, is shutting down its operation at the end of the season in the Cup Series, marking a huge shift in the team’s direction. However, SHR co-owner Gene Haas plans to continue his involvement in the Cup Series, launching a single-car Cup team named “Haas Factory Team” for the 2025 season.
With Martin Truex Jr. retiring after the season, Chase Briscoe will replace him in the #19 Toyota Camry of Joe Gibbs Racing.
Chase Briscoe secures an emotional win for SHR at Darlington
The 29-year-old locked his playoff spot in the last moment after winning the crown jewel race at Darlington Raceway last week. This win means a lot for SHR, as it was their first win of their final season.
Reflecting on the Darlington win after the race, Blaney said (via SiriusXM NASCAR Radio):
“I really wanted to see Stewart Haas winning their final season, but I really wanted the #14 car to end its final year winning. Just the heritage Haas and for us to be able to do it.”
It will be interesting to see how Chase Briscoe continues his winning momentum in Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series playoff opener at the Atlanta Motor Speedway.
